This is confusing me. I thought at first it was a conservative saying Graham-Cassidy is bad because it's single payer (), but then I looked up the artists and found they're pro-labor types (who don't like single payer?? ), who presumably wouldn't conflate the two very different systems. If it's saying both single payer and Graham-Cassidy are bad then why is there nothing connecting the two messages? This is like two low-effort cartoons smushed together, not a singular, cohesive thought.

Bringing up SP is the red herring to distract from how lovely the bill is and it's also red baiting, thus the communist symbolism.

I'd seen you post a bunch of times but never noticed your avatar moves, so I sat there for no joke approximately 30 minutes staring at it wondering if the fever was cooking my brain or if it was actually moving and talking to me or something, it was one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had.

Single-Payer is the red herring which the other red herring wants to use to scare you into approving G-C The confusing part to me is that the GOP elephant is being drawn as a red herring IMO; I think that's just bad cartooning. The point of it still definitely seems to be that the GOP wants people going "oh no, save me from the scary socialism " loquacius fucked around with this message at 12:38 on Sep 24, 2017 |

Yeah I get that Kim Jong Un looks like a total nerd, and he's still a deluded bloodthirsty monster who thinks his subjects sincerely love him, but North Korean propaganda and messaging has been on point since he took over. "Dotard" is accurate, concise, and savage, in no way equivalent to "Rocket Man" or "booger head." I totally get not wanting to glorify Kim here, but acting like he's comparable to Trump is probably the worst thing you could do here. Kim's been surprisingly rational and predictable, but we keep daring him to escalate and then being surprised and upset when he does. The idiocy is asymmetrical. It's us, we're the idiots here. From context it's pretty clear that "single payer is communism" is the claim (not even necessarily the belief) of the character in the cartoon, not of the cartoonist. It could stand to be in a speech bubble to emphasize "this is the villain talking, I don't actually believe this," and yeah every cartoon in that post was pretty low-effort, but c'mon man.

Hooters is a restaurant that exclusively hires busty women and has them wear tight shirts. It's basically a place you go to ogle boobs. During an earthquake, everything shakes around. If you somehow manage to ignore the building possibly falling down, silverware going everywhere, and glasses falling and breaking, you might notice that 'everything' includes the waitresses' boobs. Many men like jiggling boobs for some reason. The joke is that they got to watch really, really jiggly boobs and that makes the deaths okay. Honestly, as terrible as it is, it's not the most inexplicable Hooters-related thing I've seen this week. That honor goes to the Sonic the Hedgehog cross-promotion.

Is there even a shred of evidence that this is the case? And would it even count if like 0.1% of viewers cried and "Boycotted" (not watch sports channels until the next game they care about)?

Ularg posted:Is there even a shred of evidence that this is the case? And would it even count if like 0.1% of viewers cried and "Boycotted" (not watch sports channels until the next game they care about)? If you're okay with a blood sport, the reduced skill and ability on display reduces your interest. If you're okay with not seeing "good football" and just want your team to win, getting hamstrung by a bad tackle penalty makes the game win/loss seem random. But, sure, maybe somebody stopped watching because black players were quietly kneeling last year. But from anecdotal evidence, we used to have a weekly game watching session that struggled last year, and fell apart this year. Now, it could be because we're all getting older and more busy, but that never stopped us before. A couple of us have kids that are getting old enough for peewee football, and so far no one has signed them up. Watching someone stagger off the field and stay off due to "migraines" puts a damper on the mood. Fantasy draft started out fun, but now it feels like a thankless job. I still watch the games, but I record them and watch them later during the week, and usually I know how they're going to end, so I skip the blow outs. More and more, it feels like watching a boxing PPV, and not even for a good fight.

This in particular could be the doom of the game, especially as parents are starting to pull their kids out of football and into safer sports, no doubt to the detriment of the game in 10 years time.
