The cool anticapitalist anarcho antifa types who burned police cars and random poo poo in support for their friends on trial for attempted cop burning managed to destroy evidence in the maelys abduction case.

If you were asking in earnest, it's a combination of pursuing exactly the same labour law reforms as when he was a minister in the previous administration and being extremely bad at hiding his obvious contempt for the French public.

The latter is especially grating since he's pushing the usual "the people have chosen me" line at the same time. The truth is that he won because he was up against Le Pen, the political equivalent of a pile of toxic garbage while Macron was "only" a steaming bowl of poo poo. Back in 2002 when Chirac was up against her father in the second round, he won 82% to 18% with left-wingers choosing to "vote for the crook, not the fascist". Macron this year? 66% to 34%. I'm talking about a contest anybody with a pulse could have won, so this is not as good a result as it might look.

So as I sorta anticipated, En Marche's ambitions in the Senate were severely hampered by the fact that they're not implanted locally, and that the Senatorial elections hugely favor well implanted parties. And seeing how Macron's support is dwindling, and how the next elections are pretty far off, I feel like the chances of En Marche collapsing and eating itself before they can establish themselves as a real party are steadily increasing. This pleases me.

If En Marche collapses, what happens? Deputes join different parties? Recall elections? It shambles along like a political zombie? Sixth Republic?

Lightning Lord posted:If En Marche collapses, what happens? Deputes join different parties? Recall elections? It shambles along like a political zombie? Sixth Republic? Well, it is possible that the trio Macron-Philippe-Ferrand (basically the EM whip in the Assemblée) could lose control of the députés and see some of them defect (back) to the PS, UDI or maybe even LR, or see some of them defy the Government from whithin the majority. It remains very unlikely that the majority and government will collapse, though. But most importantly I meant that I feel like the party itself will become much like the UDI or the PRG, a party with no base and only politicians, only surviving thanks to electoral arrangements and name recognition.
