Deadeye on a reaper is a double-edged sword. Yes, the added damage can secure a kill that wouldn't be possible otherwise, but at the same time, it can take an easy shot and make it considerably more likely to miss, fail the reveal check, and get your reaper exposed in a really vulnerable position (often activating more pods).

Yeah but reapers have pretty high aim and can get right up next to enemies without revealing, and unlike sniper rifles their gun doesn't have an aim penalty at close range. Stick 'em 3 tiles away and enjoy your 95% shot with a massive damage boost.

I got tactical rigging and deadeye on my Reaper so I have them carry tracer rounds. With a superior scope on their gun they pretty much always can land it. VVV Across 3 playthroughs I have not gotten a single perception PCS from drops. I've bought several superior ones off the Black Market though. You can mitigate it some, as you mention, but a lot of late-game units have innate defense and deadeye is -25 aim...that's nothing to sneeze at. Its at least enough to always make me consider if doing anything else with the Reaper is useful that turn before considering Deadeye. Internet Kraken posted:I got tactical rigging and deadeye on my Reaper so I have them carry tracer rounds. With a superior scope on their gun they pretty much always can land it. That does change things a bit in Deadeye's favor. Haven't rolled tactical rigging at all yet and have been starving for scopes and perception PCS's all game. Both mine have sup. speed pcs + laser sight/repeater/extended mag. I'd really like to be able to put talon rounds on them and stack crit to help their low output. Actually what I want is to be able to put a wraith suit on them, that would be really fun.

So I just got my first ever Low Profile SITREP (Sergeant or lower ranked soldiers only) around midgame, and by chance I happened to have exactly six soldiers standing who qualified, so I apprehensively accepted. Advanced ADVENT, Vipers, Mutons, a Codex. It's dicey, but thanks to a frost grenade against the codex/muton pod, I'm managing. I'm down to one last pod to activate, cautiously advance, and: Motherfucking Archon King. Against a resource-depleted lowbie squad. gently caress yoooouuuuu gaaaaaame.

This is an amazing expansion that easily could have been a cash-in sequel, but it's puzzling how many game crashing bugs were allowed to pass. The Chosen attack on the Avenger was simple unplayable, crashing every other turn. I had to reload a previous save and off the last Chosen to finish the game. Still though, this was the best DLC I've ever played.

Well that was easier than I expected for Commander. The tower mission was a bit of a joke as I blew half of it up (including a pod of three that took cover against the objective wall only to eat a Blaster Launcher). The final mission was completely under control even when I mistakenly triggered two Gatekeepers and Codexes; I took maybe one shot all the way up to the Avatar room thanks to pacing the Commander's Mind Control which appears to be a forgiving guaranteed hit on Andromedons. The reinforcements didn't do much better. A Sectopod + 2× Heavy MEC pack wasn't much of a problem thanks to having an e-War specialist on the team, and my Sharpshooter was able to Serial down eight aliens in a go or Rapid Fire on exposed Avatars. Mind control wasn't even a problem thanks to the buddy system. Pinning them down with Frost Bombs is basically cheating, so I brought two and totalled three with the freeze from the Serpent Armor. Some observations: -If you save enough AP and play your covert ops right you can bring one Specialist to the final mission with -Lightning Hands is worth it on every Sharpshooter even if you've built them a Killzone / Serial rifle that out-shoots the Darklance. That was fun. Now to uninstall and go outside until Forza 7 drops because that was ~100 hours and I am not playing Legendary this year. I really don't get the hate. I usually just either killed them, mimic beacon, or flashbanged them so they couldn't do their Fun Lancing. The only time I remember them landing a hit on me was when a Heavy Stun Lancer melee'd my Spark. It didn't go well for the Stun Lancer.

Abandoned another Classic run because I couldn't roll a Specialist after Gatecrasher. 2 scientists and two engineers mean I'm fighting Mutons and MECs with default weapons and a team of four. Sometimes the game is too spicy. I think my strategy is going to be evac on Assassin until I can handle it. Seeing a pack of Lost ignore Chosen and Ayys to run up on me is also very frustrating. Taffer posted:I felt like a big strong man when i beat commander ironman. Just grind the early game if you really want to persevere. Early game can easily kill you if you get unlucky, make a mistake and/or don't know how to exploit the horrible AI. Always rush mags unless you get like a shotgun damage breakthrough after modular weapons, rush resistance ring + GTS, flood your GTS with rangers and shotgun your way through the early game. Mid game is a matter of alpha striking everything properly, which should be a lot easier to do with frost grenades and mimic beacons. Late game is all about not falling asleep on your keyboard as your murderbots alpha strike everything even harder.
