yeah I eat rear end posted:In my experience they try to at least on some airlines and board the disabled people/people with young kids on before first class and then generally have at least two groups based on row. The problem is a lot of people either miss their group and end up screwing the flow up by being late, or people cheat and try and board when they aren't supposed to and hope the attendant doesn't care enough to make a fuss (they almost never do). I had a long train trip a little while ago and took my shoes off and curled up and fell asleep and when I woke up a dude was next to me and my feet were on his lap. The rest of the train car was mostly empty but hours had gone by and to this day I'm not sure who was the weirdo out of the two of us. He was in his early-mid 20s probably and didn't seem like he was getting off on it but it was still confusing. I apologized and he said he didn't care and didn't want to wake me up but I'm pretty sure there were like a ton of open seats he could've taken

I think I'm one of the few people that doesn't get annoyed with crying babies/young children on planes. I suspect the parents are panicking internally and it'd be cruel to add to their ordeal. I just feel terrible for them.

Nah, I feel the same way - at least (or just maybe especially) when the parents are doing their best to make sure their kids aren't unnecessarily dickish. This obviously doesn't apply to babies. Babies just want a boob and sometimes even when they have one adjusting to life outside the womb is trying.

Crying babies are straight up the most unpleasant and annoying thing I can think of, but people that take it out on the parents (unless its a situation where a baby has no business being like a movie theater) are morons.

For the record, I never said I didn't hate the sound. Annoyance is a different thing in my brain. Here is a different yet related thing: The first six months, as a dad, are the worst. Being alone with a baby sucks when said baby will not take a drat bottle ever at all ever for any reason. Bonus anecdote: With my youngest, this period of time coincided with living near the local high school, the marching band of which practised on our street. That year, they were playing the Imperial March from Star Wars. I could hear it coming half a mile away, quiet at first. Buh buh buh buh BUH buh-buh buh-BUH. I listened, shaking. Every day. For a month. Knowing that it would get louder and louder as the bastards approached. The crescendo was, oddly, not helped by the wails of a newly-woken infant. I guess my phuo is that sometimes it's okay to hate marching bands. burial has a new favorite as of 09:06 on Sep 25, 2017 |

On a related note, pricks who sit in the aisle seat on a crowded bus/train/whatever, and refuse to move to allow others to sit on the other side and/or stick their legs across the seats. If it happens to me one more time, I will climb over the top of you, and make it my business to stomp on your legs while doing so.

In my experience, most large airlines would invite customers with young children or who require assistance boarding to come to the front of the queue. Maybe it varies from airline to airline. This isn't the pet peeves thread but one of the most aggravating things as far as public transport goes is people occupying the seats in trains that are set aside for elderly or disabled passengers then don't move when an elderly or disabled passenger comes aboard.

Unpopular bus/train opinion - you shouldn't be expected as a man to give up your seat for a perfectly able-bodied woman. It was more commom in college buses but if a girl was in the aisle in front of you you would get stared/tutted at until you got uncomfortable enough to give it up. If you aren't elderly or disabled and want to sit, get to the stop earlier like everyone else.

Just curious since it isn't a thing here. Possible PHUO on public transportation: I don't feel as if you are expected to give up your seat to someone who is severely over-weight or obese, even though they may have as great trouble as some handicapped people with mobility - but it is a nice thing to do, and you should do it for the same reason as you'd give up a seat to someone not able-bodied or someone pregnant, I feel. It is also the proper thing to do, to give up or switch seats, so that parents with pre-school aged kids can sit next to them imo. It isn't on the level of the other stuff, though.

I never see it when i'm in germany etc but sometimes i still feel like people are silently judging me for sitting because of those experiences.

Standing or sitting, I like to be as close as possible to the bus driver. Sometimes I ask a person to move so I can be next to the driver. They never refuse, because they don't dare ask why I want to be close to the driver.

Every single human race is equally obnoxious and self absorbed. I think the internet has made this more obvious than anything. If you give any tribe or race of human being, however foreign to the internet they may be, access to it they will be filming themselves being obnoxious about anime on youtube or masturbating on pornhub within like a year. And I'm not like Orwell and blame technology, it's seriously just human nature and probably animal nature in general to be that self absorbed

I don't know if this is going to be an unpopular opinion or not, but: I'm sick of comic books. Pop culture is oversaturated with comic book stuff nowadays: movies (which usually accompany a wave of internet neckbeards whining and crying because a "female" has a role other than 'submissive eye candy'), CW TV series, games....even Lego is getting into the act with that "Ninjago" or whatever movie. I don't have a problem with comic books, but I'm sick of the "red pill" comic fan contingent and I'm getting tired of comic book everything.

It used to be that people who read comics or played Magic just quietly did their thing in their own groups of like-minded fans. Now that marketers have discovered, for example, that gamer types drink a lot of Mountain Dew and Doritos, they've deliberately marketed to that demographic, making it seem like reading comics or playing games is a "lifestyle choice" in the same way as choosing to vote Democratic or living in Seattle. It's gross.
