You can't stop what's coming
I know they can do it, but it's hard to see them paying $120M+ for just Russ, George, Melo, and Adams

For some reason I thought Wade had a 3 year deal, it makes a lot more sense why they're buying him out now.

Paying tax for a couple years is usually pretty sustainable, its the repeater that you need to avoid. I assume this is probably a 3-year plan before they'd need to blow it up.

The importance of this mission cannot be overemphasized
JR is a good player. B+ three point shooter and B wing defender is very valuable. Obviously that's assuming his shooting last year being at a low ebb due to his fractured thumb and family situation.

He's overpaid, but that's the tax for Bird Rights on a guy like that.

to me, he's the Javale McGee type-- superstar-level athleticism, but apparently enjoys the game and recognizes that it's a game instead of being a psycho workaholic devotee to the craft. You're already in the NBA, might as well smoke weed everyday and enjoy yourself instead of spending every waking hour LASER FOCUSED on defeating your competition. What else is there to prove, really? Why degrade your quality of life for minimal returns?

ALso, like Javale, he's an awesome (in the traditional sense) leaper and he threw down one of my favorite dunks of all time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w_1CsiLEfI

And, like Javale, for many years he was being misused and underrated and made fun of for mental lapses but then you get him on the right team and he's an essential piece of a championship.

I'm not sure how "essential" Javale was to the Warriors last season. Pretty sure the answer is "not very essential".

Also  at the people saying it was a bad deal for the Knicks. Trading Melo for a bag of peanuts is a good deal. Good riddance.

I agree with this, at this point in his career Melo is a huge net negative and it's hilarious to see people try to justify how this is a good deal.

The Knicks are a terrible team who need all the talent they can get and they have been desperate for over a year to find a way to get rid of Melo. Like how does that speak to his talent in any way?

They took a flyer on a few young players who might or might not pan out, whatever, they got something of value in return for a guy they could have very well bought out. It's a great deal for NY.

Oklahoma City is going to have not enough shots to go around for their players and are going to have huge defensive and rebounding problems whenever Adams has to rest.

What?

Roberson, George and Adams are all + defenders.

George can guard 2-4, Roberson is an elite wing defender, Adams is as stated, And Westbrook can play defense and with less of an offensive load, he won't have to save his energy for the offensive end like he had to last year.

Melo is the only glaring weak point when their starters are out there. And one bad defensive player isn't the end of the world.
