The car isn't going to get any better for the remainder of the season, Sainz is probably already acquainted with plenty of Renault staff and the legal wrangling required to sack Palmer off isn't worth it. He'll bin a couple more cars between now and Abu Dhabi and then have a mediocre career in WEC.

IIRC the opposite is a bad idea, pushing 12v through an 8v bulb. Confirm before trying, but that could be your solution because you're right, I see a ton of cheap 12v options. It looks like your VU meters on the tape deck are a warm white. I think I'd lean toward cool white behind the tuner dial (will really make the blue pop) and then warm white for the VU meters to keep them a LITTLE bit old-tymey (they'll still be brighter and whiter). But if you can find a cheap set, try out both options. I'd probably order a couple of the cheap rear end 12v sets from ebay to start with.
