Bart-Kira isn't really about making The Simpsons "dark", Lasagna Cat is sort of like that superficially but has it's own thing going regardless, and Weapon Brown is just straight up parody. Better example would be Power/Rangers, which is just dumb as poo poo.

Though now that I think for a second I did inadvertently choose 3 dark/gritty fan projects for my examples... I genuinely like this a lot if no one takes it to extreme ideological territory. I've seen other people say 'I just think the art is ugly", but eh, it's stylized. On the other hand, I hate Tumblr nose and I can't say it's pulled off any better than usual here. I love/hate artists who draw fan art of characters that looks absolutely 100% nothing like the character and you only know it's them because of a particular accessory or distinctive facial feature. Like without context I can only tell the trolls are trolls because of the horns. The Kill La Kill one is completely unidentifiable.
