Is it just me or is there something really off in the composition of this page? Specifically, that lightning bolt across the panels seems to turn into a sort of arrow on the left end, but the panel border sort of comes in and up and intersects with the lightning bolt panel... it just looks bad and breaks the line of the panels in a way that confuses me.

What you're seeing is the mirror in panel 3 intersecting with panel 2's lightning border. It really is terrible composition, proving once again that overly detailed backgrounds are distracting and bad.

I've always thought that the worst thing to happen to the character of Patrick was having his motivations and thought processes revealed to the audience. He was interesting when inscrutable and alien. And now we get an extended dreamscape sequence to pull back the curtain even further on his inner mind. Joy.
