vermin posted:Same. This song, and it feels like a good number of anti-suicide stuff, isn't going to reach or improve actually suicidal people. Like it's there to make people who aren't in danger feel better. A bake sale to end world hunger. Mental illness is still seen as a weakness of ones own doing in the developed world so anything that gets people talking about it is never a bad thing. Doubly so when its done on a platform that has the biggest at risk demographic watching it. Supposedly the suicide national hotline had its most calls ever after the premier of logic's music video. While it could be seen as just paying lip service to the whole issue its getting people to take steps in getting information that will then help them. I'm sure those hotlines have all sorts of resources at their disposal. Oh and the episode was pretty good. ![]()

There's a ton of people who legitimately feel like this. They weren't just Hillary supporters to avoid Trump, they were true believers. Said it before, will say it again, the world would have been a better place if an asteroid hit the presidential debate.

Growing up in the Christian subculture, that kind of attitude is all too familiar to me. Someone tries to make honest art, and people complain that it's too ambiguous and it'll make all the kids worship Satan. But so far, I'm not seeing any of that this season, so whatever.

Why do I get the feeling this week's episode is gonna be about those 23andme-type ancestry sites?

I'm not gonna lie. I'd never heard of that before until reading this post and I immediately was like, "oh drat I wanna try that!" (Assuming it was free) That company must be raking it in considering I was curious enough to look it up for pretty much no reason. I'm sure tons of people are down to shell out 300 bux for it.

They've done a pretty good job ripping on the Gold scams and Mobile Apps so I can only assume knocking the ancestry companies will be fun as well.

Ein cooler Typ posted:are the ancestry companies a scam? They are in that you are paying them to further their research. What I mean is you are paying them to take your data and add it to their database as they continue to research genetics/genomes/whatever. If it was like $25, it wouldn't be a big deal but it costs far more than that. So yeah, it's a scam. Also, it gives you no information that you really need to know. What? I have a distant relative who native american? Wow! That's so cool. And I'm also mostly white? You don't say. Cartman will find out he is part jew. That's my prediction.

Probably, they've been in the news abit lately since there's a few articles about white supremacists taking the test and getting results of 10-15% African/South American. It highlights a problem with the testing and database. It goes off genetic markers. They do free tests if you, or both your parents, were immigrants from a country that don't have much data for. So for example they do a test for an immigrant from India and get markers D,H and M. Some white dude in Iowa gets C, G and M. By their test the Iowan is part Indian never minding that the M market could have been introduced during any time of colonization or trade in the last 800 years.

Perhaps slut shaming caught up with their own social compass so they dialed it back a notch when it came to parental unit sexual promiscuity.

I guess she still is behind the scenes but it was a killer joke. Fun fact: shes based on Trey Parker's ex wife
