My "college student gets a support cat" experience happened at a school that literally bought the apartment buildings adjacent to the campus, so students living on-campus lived in full apartments of varying sizes, but the smallest they got were 1 room studios that were still bigger than your typical dorm. Hopefully that's what happened in the case of lemon-lyme disease's story too, otherwise I feel very bad for that cat. :(

I had no classmates with pets, but I did have one with severe allergies. Thinking of her makes me suspect that accommodating someone's ESA in campus housing creates more health risks than it solves.

Currently, when someone brings a dog and doctor's letter into a plane cabin, all people with allergies can do is take the next flight and hope it will be dog-free.

It has been a long time, but I got the impression it was a regular on campus dorm, but it may have been a suite? I think it was brought up because, oddly, there were roommate issues over the cat. I didn't get the impression anyone involved was abusing it, but it probably could have used more space. We all could.

luckily if your therapist doesn't agree with you that your pet is an emotional service animal with special privileges that lesser people don't deserve, you can pay some website a few hundred bucks a year to send you the necessary paperwork. this will allow you to do exciting things like bring a bird onto an airplane or skip right past the "no pets" policy of any rental housing, there's no reason why you should allow other people's discomfort or property rights to forbid you from inflicting your terrible animal on society at large

My Father-In-Law [60?M](of ~1 year) Is storing dead birds with other food. I [27M] am feeling uncomfortable eating their food. Problem is getting worse.

quote:

My wife[27F] and I are recently married, but have been together for over 5 years. Their entire family has a very relaxed attitude towards germs (people will come to gatherings even if they are clearly sick, those people will handle food, not a lot of precautions), and I'm a little on the opposite end. While I don't think I'm a germaphobe, I do think it is reckless to come to 8+ person gathering and prepare food when you have strep throat(an event that happened recently). While my wife totally understands, and thinks I am reasonable, she's still used to things so she occasionally falls into those habits as well.

During the summer, we spend about every third weekend at their cottage. My FIL likes woodworking and carving birds, and I guess to have a model, when he finds a dead bird, he freezes it and saves it. This also bothers my wife, as it's illegal, though she's less cautious about the health risks.

My problem is that these dead birds (which honestly shouldn't even be interacted with) are being stored in a freezer directly next to food that we are going to eat. What's worse is that the latest one was stored in a re-used Sobeys Deli Meat bag that had obvious signs of wear and tear. It bothers me the extent they re-use plastic ziplock bags already(I don't think you should reuse bags that have stored meat, and at the lake we wash dishes with water that hasn't been treated, so plastic bags shouldn't really be washed there anyways). This feels like a serious health risk.

My wife agrees that this is ridiculous. She thinks I'm overreacting though. This summer I became less and less comfortable with eating food from that freezer.

Today, she showed me a text from him. He found an almost-decapitated raven on the side of the road(it was not fresh). He wanted to remove the head and preserve it, and was asking my wife for suggestions(she studies birds). She told him to absolutely not bring it in to the cottage, and that if he is wanting to specifically get the skull, he would need to look up how to do that on his own, but that this was a bad idea.

Knowing him though, there's a very good chance that a decapitated rotting raven head is going into that freezer, and I think that might be the last straw for me.

I'm not quite sure how to deal with this situation. Their family will absolutely think I'm overreacting, but I think that they are under reacting. How do I approach this situation? Am I potentially overreacting?

tl;dr: FIL is storing dead birds in reused plastic bags in a freezer next to food at their cabin and it's getting worse. I'm uncomfortable eating there. What should I do?

I [22F] think my boyfriend [24M] is a closeted homosexual

quote:

At first he seemed like a normal guy but over the course of our relationship I've noticed a lot of worrying signs, red flags if you will.

The first thing is that he reads poetry, no it's not like he still has that small book of collected poems from an highschool English class but he actually has a whole small bookshelf dedicated to it. Now reading in general isn't really common for normal men anymore but reading a lot of poetry is on a whole new level and it worries me.

He also has a very strange taste in movies. The other day I brought the new Baywatch movie with me so we could watch it together and he said something like that it's not what he usually watches but he's okay with it if he gets to choose the next one. So the next day I had to sit through some kind of weird European lesbian drama in black and white, I think it was called Persona.

One of the few manly things he does is working out but he has recently admitted to me that he likes to listen to classical music while doing so which of course weakens that aspect.

And lastly he barely drinks. Maybe a glass wine once a week but no beer at all.

Overall this leads me to only one possible conclusion, he might be secretly a closeted homosexual, maybe he doesn't even know about it. Should I confront him about it and talk about it with him or what is the course of action that I should take?

tl;dr: Boyfriend has a lot of worrying traits that lead me to believe that he might be a closeted homosexual.

You can get a Social Security Number if your crazy parents didn't document your birth, but it's dependent on what kind of proof you can provide. From the few things I've read about it, it's easier if you have a large family who can go on record stating they were there when you were born or were around during your childhood. It also helps if your family is religious, since you can use things like baptismal records as evidence that you were born in the US.

But if you don't then lol have fun being a stateless person in your own home country who will never get to do things like work a normal job or fly on a plane.

My [31,M] wife [32,F] wants to use a sperm donor over having a child with me.Relationships (self.relationships)

quote:

My wife and I have been married for just over a year, and we have been together for five years. The topic of children has not come up many times, but we both have made it clear that we want kids. Last night, in bed, she said she was ready to have a child, but she hit me with a bombshell. She thinks we should use a sperm donor.

I am diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and depression, but they are both stable and under control. I don’t have outbursts like I did when I was younger, and I am now overall very happy and satisfied with life.

She says that she doesn’t want to risk giving such a “cruel” life to our child. That hurt to hear. I don’t see my life as cruel. I am successful. I have a wife that I love. I have most everything I could want, and I don’t let those diagnoses define me. But apparently that is how my wife defines me. She would rather carry another man’s baby than carry mine — her husband who she has never brought this up as an issue before.

We are going to discuss it when I get home, but I am at a loss for what to say to her. I have never been more crushed and hurt than I am right now. I feel completely rejected by my own wife — the love of my life.

What do I do here? Am I overreacting? I absolutely don’t want to go through with this. I want a child that is of us and not if her and some man who went to a sperm bank.

tl/dr Because of my mental diagnoses, my wife wants to use a sperm donor as opposed to me for having a child.

I think the real issue is that is probably one of those pre-marriage talks people should be having.

My neighbor got a fake Emotional Support Animal, I have a real one and my landlords want registration?

quote:

Hi, posting to relationships because I don't want to ruin anyone's life or upset my landlords.

Basically, I recently got legitimately prescribed an emotional support animal due to mental health issues that I have. I took the letter from my therapist, along with a letter requesting reasonable accommodation, to my landlords. Everything was all fine and dandy.

Today my landlords call me into their office and say they need one more document. They show me a FAKE "ESA Registration" letter that another girl here got and they want me to get one. They think it's real. I went on the website and it costs $65 and comes with a whole bunch of crap I don't want. I don't want to have to pay $65 for a FAKE letter when I already have the real one.

Reddit, should I tell my landlords the letter is fake, or just suck it up and pay for a fraud letter?

TL;DR My neighbor got a fake ESA letter, my landlords want an exact same one from me.
