Did they ever make it so you can restart with a controller on the PC version? I would probably restart more often if I didn't need to get my keyboard for it.

You can manually edit the controls config file to bind reset to a controller button. Alternatively you can use joytokey to make isaac believe your controller is a keyboard and have one of the buttons be R. One way or another it's always been possible to restart with a controller, going back to original flash isaac.

Picked this up for PS4 ages ago, not long gotten AB+, is there anything I should be rushing to unlock? I've basically only got the Cathedral and Sheol unlocked so far, haven't killed Isaac or Satan much yet.

You'll naturally unlock loads of stuff just through repetition. Don't worry too much about optimal unlocks/runs. You'll come across broken runs on your own and it's more fun if you aren't mass-restarting the RNG.

I got Trisagion as my starting passive for my first Eden run. It's an incredibly wide burst of light that's piercing, slow moving, low damage, and has zero knockback. The last part let me die in the first room I went into, which was Super Pride. Couldn't push back the mega troll bombs.

Death's list is a wonderful item, because if you follow the kill order you get pickups and random statups. The school bag is also good, but they didn't add instructions on how to switch items, so I didn't know how to use item #2 until Cathedral. It's CTRL/R2 by the way.

I finally beat the stupid April Fools challenge when one of the pickups gave me a golden heart. Within two minutes I had 12 black hearts, all golden. I welcomed The Bloat after that lol

I'm playing catch-up with the new items on the Switch version, but I absolutely wrecked Greed mode with Sampson, the Apple, Sprinkler, Charged Baby, and Tech X. New items mean new OP combos. And trash.

Is there a mod where you can take items out of rotation or increases the drop rates for other items? I never seem to get any fun items anymore, I get polydactyl every single run.

To use it you extract the game resources (also available the tools folder) and open itempools.xml in the pool editor app.

I still wish there was a mod to allow you to make custom starting characters (or at least choose their items) on the fly. I like to try dumb stuff like Soy Milk with goofy other things but there seems to be no easy way to do those kinds of things that I know of.

You could start as Isaac and then cheat engine whatever item you want to try into the first item room. I think that's the fastest way right now

Wow thanks, I had no idea either. I have no problem with removing some of the AB+ cruft from the pools. Do you know what would happen to these files if/when AB+ releases another expansion?

My guess is that the worst thing to happen by using outdated itempools.xml would be the lack of the new booster pack items being in any pools. One would have to re-implement them manually, or apply the item pool changes to a fresh itempools.xml. This would be unlike items.xml, which causes the game to crash if it doesn't define any of the new booster pack items (as I've seen more than enough times with my few mods that change item descriptions).

I've come to realize that after 800 hours I still have no idea how Angel Rooms spawn. I've read the wiki and think I understand it, but then trying to target them seems to be a total crapshoot. Just had a run in which I hadn't taken any devil deal items and sacrificed three (red) hearts to get the 'Blessed' buff to bring the angel room spawn chance displayed to 100% and still nothing happened. This was on Caves I (the second time through as I started with Forget Me Now) and I had seen a Devil Room offered on Basement II as usual. Do I need to basically get a devil room to spawn on a given floor and then the chance at an angel room is the chance for that devil room to be an angel room instead? I know when I have a Eucharist the display is 0% devil 100% angel so I assumed they were independent of each other.

The angel room chance is the % chance that a devil room will be replaced by an angel room. 0% devil and 100% angel means that there is an angel room, but you can only access it with a sacrifice room teleport, joker card or red chest teleport. The first devil/angel room you see will always be a devil room, even if you throw yourself at a sacrifice room in basement 2. I'm not sure what the game does if you start an Eden run with Eucharist. I'm honestly at the point where I take all good-okayish devil deals and hope for enough heart drops to go for the sacrifice room "angel room teleport+item drop"-combo.

You cannot buy any items from devil deals or black markets. Getting items for free is fine however, such as by fighting Krampus, using a demon beggar, or using a Credit Card in the room. Even then, getting Angel rooms is still down to luck. Eucharist, Goat Head, and Rosary Bead trinket are useful to help get angel rooms. Sacrifice rooms can sometimes teleport you to one directly, and you can use a Joker card to get the teleport as well. Blowing up shopkeeper bodies and beggars will raise your chance of getting angel/devil rooms.

Anyone have that video of one of the BoI thread regulars breaking the original BoI: WotL? It was the first such video and he was using isaac, cloned a bunch of pills, basically completely ruined the poor old flash engine. I thought the video was called "Breaking of Isaac" but searching youtube for that gives me an infinite number of streamers working on Rebirth, afterbirth, etc. I could have sworn the goon had the same favicon as Color Printer but I could swear that wasn't his handle. Got my PC in some kind of working state. Going to FINALLY get stuck into Antibirth. Thinking of starting a fresh file. What's the goon consensus on that? For context I must have put at least 200 hours into Rebirth/Afterbirth on the Xbox1 and a hundred or so on the PC before it hosed up.

Antibirth is about to have a pretty comprehensive update land in addition to their contributions to the latest Booster Pack as per their latest blog update, so I reckon it should be a fair bit better as of whenever that actually deploys.

Oh my goodness, I finally got the dumb raw liver I needed for platinum god! Now if I can just get Godhead to show up I'll have all the trophies on Vita. Never thought I'd be able to pull it off when I started playing! Next up: getting the DLC on PS4

Antibirth blog site for those who haven't seen it, latest entry was 28 August but it looks like they should be posting more info soon. Extremely excited for the update - the Antibirth crew seems to have a much better concept for the game's flow than the booster pack's "anything goes" mentality, and the small quality-of-life things (like Black Hearts popping instantly without that awful animation) are great too. Plus the soundtrack is leaps and bounds better than Rebirth. Except for the Mines BEEEEP anyway! I really hope that's edited down a bit.
