Always just assumed it was a whole variety of things like getting hit by cars or feral cats or some lazy person throwing chicken bones on the ground or whatever. Never imagined a ridiculous scenario like that. If it's Chicago, that's just from the peregrine falcons that nest in the skyscrapers Used to see little corpses outside the Morton Salt building all the time in the morning. Sometimes if you get lucky you see them knock one out of the sky and swoop down to eat it. If you're *really* lucky, you'll see one decaptiate a pigeon mid-fight and rain blood on some hapless pedestrian. Proteus Jones has a new favorite as of 17:30 on Sep 28, 2017 |

Lord Lucan's widow died recently. and her obituary reads like her attempted-murderer husband wrote it. "We can't necessarily blame Lucan for beating their children's nanny to death with a length of pipe! His wife was hysterical! He had to attempt to bash her head in!"

Trash pidgeon just cheap city squab. Serve it as "free range squab in a light beer sauce" and you could charge money for it probably. Boom, I just made hobo stew the next big culinary trend.

Shitloads of people eat pigeon, and not just drunken hobos hell bent on buying more booze. In fact, 5 of the results on the first page for "pigeon recipes" go to UK sites so it doesn't even seem particularly weird there. What a weird-rear end story.

Yes, as wood pidgeon is a good meat from a good bird that generally lives in the countryside. Feral, city pidgeons (or, domesticated rock doves as they are also known) are full of both parasites, disease and whatever poo poo heavy metals and plastic they've bioaccumulated by foraging for sustenance in a fine mixture of traffic exhaust, trash and other pidgeons (since the stronger birds routinely peck to death weak or sick birds to eat them).

This is good for hobo selection too since the weaker or immunocompromised hobos will become sickened from eating the birds and they themselves will become prey for the silverback hobos.

Mentions it to one of the park rangers who laughs at my dad and says he was mistaken and that it must have been a hawk or a turkey vulture or something. Then about a week later the newspaper was like holy poo poo bald eagles are back!
