MGR has three tracks for each boss fight. One is the base song, second is the same with more instruments, third is the same track with vocals added in and it shifts between the three depending on what's happening in the fight itself and/or what phase/counterattack is going on at the time. It's pretty amazing and the only game soundtrack I've bought, let alone before playing the actual game (I was introduced to it by a chip cheezum LP).

RareAcumen posted:I love MGR for having an easy to access combo list and names for all of your moves. Also they're not really combos in the usual sense: your light attacks are infinite and a heavy can slot in anywhere during the 5 move long (iirc) light attack loop. Depending on where you slot the heavy in it can lead to another heavy but your combo doesnt actually end if you dont do a heavy finisher. Its a wonderfully simple and comparably intuitive system for a character action game. Parrying is also super forgiving unless you want to trigger counters, that requires perfect parries, for the purposes of just avoiding damage doing it early is noooo problem. also 'defensive offensive' (X+square / A+X) is your dodge, ABUSE IT. I don't like the show South Park and The Stick of Truth had enough annoyances and tedium for me to never finish it, but I admire that at the very least The Fractured But Whole's edgy tryhard marketing campain led to them paying some unsung hero to invent of actual, functional Smellovision. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucymk0q70aQ

I'll shut up about Samus Returns after talking this one cool thing. Sadly getting 100 percent doesn't give you a still-frame of Samus in slightly revealing outfit that you could just google. Instead you unlock a picture gallery, piece-by-piece, that give backstory on the Chozo, the resident precursor-race that's in every Space Opera. There's a moment at the 3.00 mark that strongly reminds of The Truth from Assassin's Creed 2, when you learn a sudden eerie twist through a jump-scare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1U2-8XsdZk

Same for Payday 2. The base track for when your sneaking, then if you gently caress up it swells and amps until the police raid when it just loving POPS and everything goes mental and it's loving great. I'm not even thinking of buying Payday 3 because I don't think they could remotely do the music as well as Vicklund did it for 2.

Is there something unusual about the pervert subgroup for Automata? Seems like 2B is a fairly vanilla character for dudes to get horny over, all things considered. Not weirder than dudes that like Overwatch porn or whatever. Or is there something else people get off to over N:A? Is it people that wish they could be strangled to death by a hot robot maid?

Oh yeah I forgot about that quest, I guess I can imagine people being creeps over that. Or do you mean that people hate the game for that? Because that's one of the bizarre high science fiction concepts that makes Automata's world interesting.

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that the character that gives the quest mentions that that aspect of the android mind is likely "based on an identical pleasure center in the human brain" - so the point is that it's calling out us humans out on deriving pleasure from violence (you're playing a violent game, after all!). That said, a ton of people keep talking it as this weird premise-defining android quirk, so maybe I'm the weird one. Edit: I just checked and I was right, the questgiver has a line like that.

I'm not talking about anything so dumb and obscure, anywhere you go where people would discuss the game people will not shut up about the main character's rear end and how much they want to gently caress her and getting an upskirt achievement, jesus christ if you think that's not creepy and weird you can gently caress off VIDEO GAMES

The romance in Automata is tremendously hosed up. RyokoTK has a new favorite as of 02:07 on Sep 30, 2017 |

Sure there's a lot of fanart of 2B's rear end, but there's a lot of fan art of literally any and every female character's rear end out there. Googling Samus Aran gets about the same ratio of garbage, that's because gamers are poo poo people. I haven't played Automata yet, does it at least have sexy dude robots too? Because going off of what I've seen of the player characters two upskirt thongbots and little lord fauntelroy shortpants is a hilarious case of anime protagonist sexual dimorphism.

It does have sexy dude machines, yeah. 2B's ridiculous appearance is a lot easier to get over than most obviously fanservice women in anime games because of the philosophical themes and the science fiction stuff the game goes through -- it's really not a game about looking sexy -- and the cinematics and camera never do any suspicious lingering shots of her butt, so really the game treats her about as respectfully as possible considering she looks that way literally because the director wanted a hot girl to be the protag.

Steamworld Dig 2 is pretty great in all the ways, with the game being pretty much just better in every single way than 1. My favourite is that water isn't a limited resource anymore; in 1, you had to ration use of it, whereas now it's just usually a waste of time to go back to sources if you're bombing or jackhammering a lot also because it's a western game there's no waifu bullshit

It has a shirtless brobot, a sexy dude robot in fancy outfit and the little boy robot in little boy clothes. The game appeals to weirdos of all types. Anyway, I'm not sure what topic to put it in, but I've noticed some weird stuff playing through Metroid Prime this time around. For a start, when you get the phazon suit there's an in-game issue where Samus' arm is not only the wrong color (it doesn't match the third person color of the suit) but the little light on the back of the hand is blue, when the suit's red. But missiles can't open doors, yet the flame breath of the magmoor enemies can. Also it might have just been specific to the version I was playing, but every time I killed a security drone with the wave buster, they'd just fall straight through the ground and vanish forever. None of it really matters in any way, but it's just weird poo poo I've noticed. Also there's one lore scan in the very first area of the game, a pirate frigate, and despite the fact that you revisit the frigate after it crashes you can't get that scan ever again.
