Shimrra Jamaane posted:Kanye is a sad case of a clearly mentally ill man not getting the treatment he desperately needs. I mean, he went and got treatment and has been laying low for like, a solid 9 months now. Mental illness + tour stress + wife being violently robbed in another country = breakdown, but that would make most people break down, honestly.

I read something once that red=repub and blue=dem came entirely from the 2000 election. Before that it was more random and had all sorts of colors, but the constant months of coverage after Bush 2 stole the election cemented it as a norm.

Correct, which is why we should strike at the dumb tribalism and mess with something as trivial as map colors.

LITERALLY MY FETISH posted:That's a different problem from "Lawyers shouldn't be politicans" which is a really dumb thing to argue because it doesn't loving matter either way. I'm not sure how you fix making sure people from lower economic status can become politicians, and this is a huge problem that does need a fix or some kind of leveling policy, but I do know that banning lawyers from being politicans won't fix it because then you'd probably end up with nothing but business peeps writing laws in our current atmosphere. I never advocated for banning lawyers. I was arguing against people claiming that lawyers dominate congress because they make great legislators.

Shimrra Jamaane posted:You can't cure a sociopath. Eh. Generally not once they're older than maybe 20, and it's not so much "cure" as "instill something like a moral code or at least basic societal rules", so obviously not relevant to Trump at all, but it's possible for someone with the basic broken brain components to A) function something like a normal human and B) not be horrible. Total lack of hardwired empathy is surmountable; sixty years of ingraining the wrong lessons with it is not.

At will employment can work both ways. So if you live in a state lovely enough to have it and you happen to be a boss and one of your employees is some racist rear end in a top hat then you can get rid of him no problem.
