SulphagneSocialist posted:He did drop away to 15 seconds behind Dan in the final few laps so there might have been some issue, but I doubt he finished the race on three wheels. If that kind of crash had happened at racing speeds he probably would've DNF'd. That's what he was asking though, did Vettel get 4th or did he DNF. He wasn't sure.

Want a screenshot of Wehrlein's Sa-über lift next. Edit: Cheers Sky. Zaphod42 posted:That's what he was asking though, did Vettel get 4th or did he DNF. He wasn't sure. Oh, right. I guess just talking a bit past each other. He finished in 4th, didn't DNF, if the crash had been on a hot lap he would've DNF'd. But he did drop off from Dan by like ten more seconds in the last few laps. Maybe his tyres fell off the cliff. Sulphagnist fucked around with this message at 09:58 on Oct 1, 2017 |

SulphagneSocialist posted:Want a screenshot of Wehrlein's Sa-über lift next. He almost certainly turned his engine down as low as it'd go; might have been tyres a little too, but he turned the engine down a little earlier to manage temps and Danny Ric took out like 5 seconds.

Looking at the replay based on my experience of playing F1 2017 the game it really looks like Seb zoned out and didn't realize there was still a car to his left. It looks like the sort of dumb thing I'd do.

Halo14 posted:Didn't see the incident, did Seb hit someone on the cooldown lap? Seb and Stroll collided on the cooldown lap. Seb lost his rear left wheel. geeves posted:From the car behind them both, Stroll just didn't turn at all. I think they were both on the radio or focusing on some steering wheel computer magic bullshit. The blame is probably something you can assign to both. They're not going ultra fast and Vettel probably could have slowed down or moved to avoid Stroll. Stroll probably could've been heads up and sped up or moved to avoid Vettel. Neither of these things happen. I just don't understand why Vettel didn't say something along the lines of "Yeah, it was a momentary lapse of concentration from me, and I think probably from Stroll as well"... why did he have to try and place all the blame on Stroll. My recollection of the crash is that Stroll is in the camera shot the whole way through, indicating he's in front the whole way through. If that's true, Vettel's story is absolute bullshit. Why can't he sometimes accept that he is responsible for his own actions and he can't just expect all his opponents cars to magically part like the story of Moses and the Red Sea. He doesn't even have to take all the blame, just make it clear that it's possible he's loving fallible. This year is bringing back all the worst parts of the Vettelreich in Vettel and he's not even winning consistently. EDIT: Thanks Ants posted:C4 just showed a view from the car behind and Stroll moved into Vettel Okay, fine, I haven't seen the whole incident; I don't think it fully takes away from my argument though. Seb never took any of the responsibility for Singapore even though he's the catalyst for everything that happened there.

Have you ever driven a car? He accepts blame you just have to give him 30 seconds to cool off, for gently caress's sake. Anybody gets heated behind the wheel but especially racing drivers in a race man, comeon. Like its cool we get to listen to the radio but its him talking to his team manager not like him intentionally sending a message to the planet.

Even without seeing Strolls camera you can assign 50% of blame to Vettel. He's not just taking the corner he's moving onto the exact bit of track that Lance is already on.

Yeah to be totally fair there's no reason to be remotely close on the flying lap, just cool your jets. But he just put in 56 laps at a demon's pace, you're gonna be kinda zonked after that. And since its over the both of them kinda weren't paying full attention like someone said earlier, fiddling with the wheel or reflecting on the race.

Like I said, the F1 journalists are worse than TMZ. They ask their questions in the most confrontational way possible to goad them into giving them drama so they can put it on TV or their website. I don't think Seb said anything all that damning but maybe I missed something, I'm tired. When they interviewed Stroll they were basically like "So Seb called you an rear end in a top hat, do you think he's a dick?" like, jeeze guys.
