Best to always assume /pol/ is hilariously wrong, or occasionally right for entirely the wrong reasons at best. I'm still wondering what the hell the murder weapon was, from the sound of it it might have been a genuine machine gun. Which I think would be a new height as massacres go.

I’m expecting just a bog standard illegally modified AR15, this is Pulse all over again. He didn’t need a machine gun to kill 50 and injure 200 in a packed venue.

I mean, 4chan was able to locate shia lebouf's anonymous flag and replace it on-stream with a MAGA hat, as well as the time they hunted down some fetish lady who stomped kittens, they're pretty resourceful. I wouldn't trust /pol/ because most of them are just incels and tween edgelords, though. Lightning Knight posted:Yikes, that number doubled in an hour. The important parts are probably the automatic weapon and the fact that he was smart enough to brace himself; most shooting have more wounded and few dead because the shooters bring manual weapons and try to shoot them movie-style. He likely would have caused a lot of fatalities regardless of his gun because he knew his poo poo.

I figured it was a normal AR15 because I think it’s worth dismissing the kind of gun(s) used in favor of focusing on the fact that this kind of thing is so easy at all. Otherwise vultures will try to sleight of hand you into bullshit discussions of “assault weapons.”

Chilichimp posted:"Lone Wolf" is just a designation for a single person committing a mass shooting, it doesn't say anything about their motives by itself. "Lone wolf" means "completely solo, no ties to any other group or organization". The implication being that it was an isolated lone crazy that no one could possibly have identified or predicted, not a political act from a group likely to commit or support or encourage more such attacks in the future. Given that the militia movement is pretty big in that region, it's definitely premature to call him a lone wolf.

Democrazy posted:Didn't internet detective work in the Boston Bombing lead to one of the people who were misidentified to kill themselves? Not quite, the person had already killed himself before the Boston bombing. His family's plea for help finding him is what got their attention (also he was brown.) His body was later found in a river. So it didn't cause his death but it did put an already suffering family through hell. e: oh and Reddit tried to take credit for it by saying his body wouldn't have been found if they hadn't accused him, or something. Once you accept that the 2nd amendment is, in fact, a death pact and we aren't going to do jack poo poo about gun violence in America, these are easier to take. I just shrugged and went about my day.
