Shame, I'm mostly wondering if it's really that prolific. I know a guy with a lot of resin, and I don't trust his collection at all. He is quick to assemble and basecoat stuff, and I suspect it's shonky. Cum to 30k slack, friend I've been needing to do a blog post about recasts. Not about buying them, but more about the history, market, quality, and those sorts of things. I'm sure it varies from area to area, but I'd wager that 80% of the models in some places I've played have been from recasters. There are more recasters now than there have ever been, largely due to the popularity of 30k and the failure of finecast.

High quality recasts are about 40% of FW price and it's hard to tell which is which with my vehicles. Never bought recasts of standard GW stuff. Plus the guy I use uses nontoxic resins so it's pretty nice compared to most. One guy at my store bought some 20-25% price recasts that he ended up abandoning because it was more trouble than it was worth to get looking decent. chutche2 fucked around with this message at 05:11 on Oct 4, 2017 |

How do you guys stop black armor from being boring? I've been painting up so many iron hands and it's honestly pretty dull. I do some edge highlighting using runefang steel since I like the look on my chaos warriors. I've experimented with doing some highlighting with P3 Coal Black like with some of my black warmachine minis, but while it looks good on flatter surfaces it looks odd on helmets and shoulders. And plus on the shoulders where the light would be hitting it in the center of the curve is where a decal goes anyway. I need to take a break and paint up some of my primaris marines using my goon chapter thread paint scheme, that was fun to paint. I'm wanting to do my guardsmen up in black and red too, might get started on that. A color scheme something like this:

The grim darkness is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the horror will go over a typical reader’s head. There’s also Roboute’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realise that they’re not just grimdark- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike 40k truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the nihilism in Guilliman’s existential catchphrase “IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE, THERE IS ONLY WAR,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mat Ward’s genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 Fuckin' lol

I am assuming that I start with a FAT mat, and then buy some stuff to go on it - assuming I wanted to spend up to about £100/$150 (on top of the mat) what would people recommend? I have a strong preference against anything I have to paint myself. I'd recommend the prepainted terrain from gamemat.eu, especially the industrial set HERE. It says preorder, but only because they're out of stock, you can watch reviews on youtube. The pieces are huge, with a couple old gw craters you'll have a table ready. Costs 105 pounds, and their mats are nice as well. They also have a gothic ruins set, but I wanted something different.

"The delegation from the Pallid Hand have become tiresome. They accomplish nothing and their ceaseless interruptions with requests for status reports costs us time and attention. Mortarion will surely not miss such a small band of his sons and our research will be greatly advanced by utilizing the fools in a more direct manner. He did say that the delegation was...at our disposal. I, for one, do not know what becomes of an Astartes subject to the servitor protocols. Process them and satisfy my curiosity." It seems only intelligent life is able to provide sufficient charge to the micellar batteries within the greater virulence. This phenomenon is without explanation, but is only a minor inconvenience and likely of trifling importance to the greater work." Mugaaz posted:Without going into nitty gritty specifics, compared to GW prices, how much are people paying percentage wise for recasts that are decent? Most recasters stick to forgeworld for a few reasons- easier to recast, higher profit margins, and very high demand. You can usually tell how well something is selling depending on how many recasters are stocking it. Another thing recasters do is that they more closely charge you for the cost of resin instead of the point value of the model on the table. So a sergent costs only a few dollars less than a limited edition named character, or whatever. GW Primaris captain- $5 vs $35 FW Castellax- $14 vs $53

a cock shaped fruit posted:Will other players possibly smash my smashing hammer to determine authenticity There are some SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS in Asia (China) and Eastern European shitholes who recast stuff and it's either OK at best or mold-slipped brittle trash. I've worked with both FW and stuff I'm certain was recast, and basically if you're in the hobby at all, you have no reason to buy recast garbage for how much more work you have to put into it just to get it up to snuff. If you're the luckiest biped on the planet, there's no appreciable difference for the most part except in extremely fine details once built and painted, & those could have easily been a bad paint job. But again, if you were to put the time in hobby work on recasts into actual job work instead, you'd come out ahead financially, which is the main pull of pirated models. I had a couple bubbles in a Malanthrope, FW sent a replacement for free, no problems. I cut on a recast one for goddamn hours and it still looked like dog's rear end full of slips and bubbles and missing, chipped-off bits. There's just one dude who fixes up FW models before he recasts them, and I'm still probably never going to gently caress about with recasts again. Fake Edit: I'm going to laugh if my post gets nuked since it talks about recasts...to discourage their proliferation.

Sweet e: Holy poo poo, now that I think about it, Ogryns can bodyguard each other too. It doesn't seem super relevant but if your opponent tries to focus them down with high damage shots, welp.
