wicka posted:It is not. Croft and Brundle are two of the worst commentators in any sport worldwide. They are only "miles better" if by "US crap" you mean Phil Simms, and even then, that's a stretch. Phil Simms makes me laugh with how inept he is. Croft and Brundle don’t. I’d watch Phil Simms ramble through an F1 race over those two. Just running the world feed broadcast makes me cautiously hopeful that ESPN will run scrolling adverts or something like in soccer instead of full on commercials. But probably not.

If ESPN is gonna air a commercial interrupted broadcast of loving Croft and Brundle, I just can't watch this sport anymore.

I'll go out of my way to watch an illegal C4 or Irish broadcast that's for sure (I've mentioned it before but I once watched an Irish stream and it was wonderful. Commercial -free, English language commentary by not-idiots and no ex drivers). Also this has made me suddenly realize that any official F1 streaming app will just have Croft and Brundle

Oh, and let's get this out of the way. Any streaming package is going to be those two.

Or the Coulthard crew, their contract is up in '19 I believe? These guys came in and have no loving clue about this sport. Hardly surprising that they'd just say "Let's go with the guys that are in the most popular English speaking country."

Apart from EJ the Choulthard Crew is a pretty upstanding show, and well worth a watch. Far superior to the Sky coverage

What's the "world feed" and who are the commentators?

Croft and Brundle are not only awful commentators, they are also laughably biased and pander so hard to the expectations of what they imagine is an Average British Person. The idea that they'd force the entire English-speaking world to listen to that garbage is idiotic, especially when you've got a ready-made lineup of two Brits and an Aussie who pretty much mock everyone equally.

Hobbs probably had a couple years left at best before he hung it up, so he'll probably call it a career. Diffey will call IndyCar and occasionally NASCAR. Matchett will probably go elsewhere.

It would be good to have commentators that aren't like decades removed from being in F1, including the NBC guys and Brundle. Button would obviously be great if he ever wanted to do it

Back two dumptrucks full of money up to Danny O'Dwyer and Drew Scanlon's respective houses. At least they would be entertaining and have an excuse for making the odd error in driver identification. Drive another 3 dumptrucks full of money directly to Are Jense and get him to do pitwalk/gridwalk/touchscreen/notebook. Make sure he always has a drink in his hand, Julian-from-Trailer-Park-Boys-style.
