Random Comic News from Today: - WB says the final Justice League trailer will release this weekend. - Justice League test screenings and editing will be finished by the end of October. - Affleck says that the criticism of Batman v. Superman was all "fair" and "not inaccurate," but that it did not result in any changes to the DCCU or Justice League because they always planned to go in a different direction after BvS. - Affleck says that he "really enjoys" everything about being Batman and plans to stay as Batman "as long as they need me" and that this has "always been the plan and there have been no changes to the plan yet." But "if it were up to me, then I'd do it forever." - WB is developing Batman Ninja, a feature-length anime Batman movie, that will debut at NYCC in a few weeks. It has a theatrical release in Japan planned and likely one in North America, but no final decision. - One of the writers for the new Marvel Comic series Marvel Legacy mentioned that he consulted for some of the plot on Avengers 4 and incorporated some of the Marvel Legacy plot elements into it. No clue how much or what parts, but here is the summary of Marvel Legacy: quote:Marvel Legacy hinges around a rabid Celestial known as The Fallen which arrived on Earth billions of years ago hunting for something and was defeated and buried by the very first team of Avengers. Now, Loki has discovered The Fallen despite Starbrand’s efforts to keep it buried and The Fallen is preparing to summon The Final Host. - Geoff Johns has come out and called the report that DC plans to make their movies more stand-alone and less connected "totally false" and that "all of the DC movies are going to be 100% connected." - Freddy Freeman - AKA "Captain Marvel Junior - is on the cast list for Shazaam.

Also, Netflix and Marvel just announced that they pulled the Punisher panel from NYCC and won't release a new trailer or screen any episodes at NYCC because of the Las Vegas shooting.

porfiria posted:I think even known communist SMG agrees that Cap is a True Hero in Captain America: The First Avenger. Almost. In Captain America, Steve Rogers is a hardcore socialist - but the point of the twist ending is that even this is not enough. Captain America 'wins', but awakens into a world where Stark Industries has created a dystopian neoliberal hell. Captian America is about Cap's moment of triumph is also where his ideological limitations are most apparent. He only cut off the head, and HYDRA survived as Stark. From there, you would expect that Captain America would continue on to fight Stark industries - but the subsequent films are Rogers just accepting liberalism with minor 'cultural-conservative' gripes, before ultimately deciding to become a full-on libertarian when he sees how Winter Soldier is treated (his journey to Wakanda is basically seasteading - Bioshock nonsense). The problem with the comics fans is that they are determining victory by, like, whether you can have a beer with the character, or whether they can kill the monster of the week. This is what leads to silly declarations like 'Cap is never wrong', when of course he is. He served Stark Industries and/or SHEILD for, like, five years - and is still open to working with Stark in the future!
