I did get Volgarr the Viking also and have really liked it so far. Made it to the first boss. Comparisons to Ghosts and Goblins are apt but I feel Volgarr has better designed levels that make it more clear what you need to do to progress, and telegraphs its hazards more fairly.

The Wii U had Super Mario 3D World which makes it the best console of all time. Also the gamepad screen map and item switcher in Wind Waker kicked rear end and I will never forgive Nintendo for letting Link have a gamepad in BoTW while making mine useless.

Any guesses for the next Direct date? Do they typically have one around the holidays to talk about the next year? Random crapshoot with no trends? Speculating announcements is fun and I really hope 18 is the year of the smash.

There's gonna be some announcement about the new Shin Megami Tensei on October 23, but I think that might be straight from Atlus, not a Nintendo Direct. I hope 2018 is: new SMT, Smash DX, Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon on Switch.

The most explaining it does is through the journal. I was able to get the backpack and start building a chicken coop (total $6,000) by the end of the first spring. You just have to farm, forage and ignore social interaction. Also, the wild seeds that you find are pretty invaluable because it's just free money.

The Directs used to be a lot more regular when Iwata was still around, there's usually 1 per quarter these days, and they'll only announce them a day or two beforehand. The general ones are usually supplemented by shorter, more focused ones (like recent Pokemon or Fire Emblem Directs). I can't see us hearing anything more about Metroid Prime 4 before next year. All they had so far from it was a logo, 2018 is probably optimistic considering it usually takes about 2 years to produce AAA games these days. Of course, we don't know who is working on it, aside from the fact that it's not Retro Studios (right? Wasn't that said?), whether it's a team who are/were working on Breath of the Wild or Odyssey for example, or if it's someone else entirely.

It isn't Retro, and all we know of the new team is that Kensuke Tanabe, producer on a lot of various Nintendo games including the Prime series, is on it. Likely as a producer again.

It has always been a game about killing nazis. Have these people just never heard of Wolfenstein before?? Somehow??

Crafting is really where you start customizing how you want to play, whether smaller things like building a poo poo load of kegs to be a beer baron or construction projects to house a bunch of animals. Also, when you can pick whether to get fruit or mushrooms in the cave, do mushrooms.
