One other bit of advice for pedo goon, since you seem to realize there's an issue and are concerned with doing the right thing, is to not start convincing yourself that having a relationship with a child is actually for their benefit or that it's actually what they want or they're mature enough for their age to make those types of decisions, etc etc. this seems to be a common excuse after pedos are caught but surprisingly no one buys it

I was a deacon in a mormon church when I was kid. After getting in trouble for smoking weed at school, I was basically excommunicated. Really glad I didn't have to go to church anymore. There were some nice people there, but most of them were very judgemental and holier-than-thou types.

For confessionals, it is only reserved for someone who is sharing that he is going to commit a serious crime (viz. murder). You want to lower the barrier for people to seek help, not isolate them until something happens.

My stance on it is basically that all pedophiles are harmless until they are presented with the right opportunity where they think they can get away with it. I'm sure every one thought to him/herself that there's no way they'd act on their urges, until they did. If treatment can stop even some of them from feeling those urges, then they should have access to it, but in reality because pedos are (rightfully) universally despised the authorities will probably give the mental health community a lot of leeway in whether they have a reasonable suspicion they will act on their urges or not. Nobody wants to be seen as a pedo-sympathizer so even in cases where they haven't done anything and could have been helped they will gladly throw them under the bus if they can.

That's actually a really salient point: Pedophiles often DONT think of it as rape because part of their psychosis is the belief their feelings are reciprocated. Some of them really believe the child is signaling to them, because those wires that manage social cues and body language in your brain are some of the crossed wires. It's like how many same sex pedophiles don't identify as gay, because they aren't gay, because their prey don't have secondary sex characteristics yet.
