i'd much rather have to deal with a werewolf or vampire than a grudge rear end ghost. you could conceivably kill a vampire or werewolf by just shooting it, what with modern day weapons probably loving up monsters thought up 200+ years ago, but you literally cannot beat a grudge ghost. you just die.

That reminds me that that Sadako vs. Kayako movie that came out a year or two back ends with both ghosts fusing together into a new, super ghost.

I get what woolie is saying. when most people refer to ghosts IRL or like those ghost hunters shows or whatever they're basically little more than spooky Halloween ghosts. they don't do anything, they're translucent and they can appear anywhere and maybe they make spooky noises or pop up in mirrors or whatever and scare you. nobody IRL is worried about a ghost killing them, just being "haunted." But if somebody was staying in a hotel and thought they saw a loving werewolf walking down the hall, they're not just going back to bed all spooked and maybe calling Discovery channel about it, they're calling security or the police or whatever because that's an imminent physical threat

In a movie or abstract survival hypothetical sure you'd rather fight a physical creature than some unknowable entity that can hurt you but IRL these myths come from human fear centers extrapolating explainable phenomena into spooky possibilities. and stories about ghosts come from usually visual and auditory experiences, not violent or physically traumatic ones. whereas stories about monsters came usually from actual attacks (by animals or whatever) or violence. "the greatest fear is the fear of the unknown" is a movie truism, but not necessarily a life truism. humans aren't viscerally frightened by the unknown because it's not "real," to us, much like most people don't see the future as "real." but they're very frightened by a bear in their living room because that's how we evolved, and because it's a bear in your living room

Anyway, as for movie ghosts, for a pop culture example look at definitive movie ghost canon Ghostbusters. up until zuul or whatever comes into play, who is distinctly some sort of eldritch god of the beyond and not a ghost, it's pretty clear the ghosts don't actually do anything but frighten people and make a big mess.

it's funny because RDR isn't a particularly long game at all and the main storyline can 100% be finished in like 18 hours give or take. you can 100% the game in 50 not going at a particularly fast pace.

RDR certainly feels long, mostly because of how long it takes to get going because Rockstar is stuck in a formula they haven't been able to break out of since San Andreas.

1. You start with nothing/get brought down to nothing
2. You meet the locals, make connections, start building your way back up
3. Something happens resulting in you needing to leave town/burough/city/state/country for a while. You may or may not end up losing everything or just about everything as a result.
4. Repeat Steps 2-3 as often as needed until plot is resolved.

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying it, but RDR feels really egregious about it since it leads off with you having to work off your debt for getting patched up, leading to a fair amount of time before Things Start Happening.

I mean, yeah. I wasn't saying that it was good he had cancer, just that it was a while ago that he said it had taken a turn for the worse which, in my experience, means "has very little time left". Good that they figured out a way to stop it, wonder if he rethought some of his worldviews with his new lease on life.

Hmmm, getting a new lease on life often makes someone reevaluate their worldly beliefs, and hoping that a person who has negatively contributed to the internet in a big way changes tack afterward is not a hugely offensive statement

meanwhile at the same time as that post you're also making spicy hot remarks that youtube critics should slit their wrists, so what's your game here

I'm saying he's responsible for some bad poo poo and I hope he changes to do more good with his much longer lifespan, that's all. gently caress's sake, dude.

I'm not saying him having cancer should make him a better person, at all. But being faced with impending death like that can often make a person reevaluate their choices in life, and given another shot, may do things to better others or right wrongs. I am speaking from experience here, and not just my own.

I mean, when PJ and mecharichter played through it together, PJ unintentionally made it his life's work to die as close to the top of the screen as possible

Haven't watched the paige and pat archive yet but the pj/mr run is a good one, they played through the whole thing in person together during the Week of Stupid where all four members of Team Poor Life Choices got together at one of their houses and played or speedran a shitload of games, it's a lot of good stuff. They even managed to find a reproducible hardlock bug during the train boss!
