I should note that "help to buy" just means they're forcing charities to sell their housing association houses for a 25% discount to people who've previously lived in them. It's basically a way of propping up housing prices by reducing fair rental stocks

How do we know the horse didn't consent and they were doing rape roleplay? UKIP is an extremely homophobic party, after all.

It's sort of funny that UKIP is clearly the second most homophobic party in the country but has still come closer than most of the main parties to having a gay leader.

One of the leading candidates in their last leadership election - the one who finished second in the end but got the most attention - was Anne Marie Waters, who is a lesbian. And Irish, despite being a British nationalist. And a former director of the National Secular Society, despite the average stereotypical Kipper being a fundamentalist Christian. She is currently the director of an organisation called Sharia Watch, co-founded Pegida UK with members of the EDL and hosed away off to found her own extreme-right party when UKIP didn't want her. Curiously enough, she'd previously made a couple of unsuccessful attempts to become a parliamentary candidate... for the Labour Party. I don't know either. Not to say lesbians are less discriminated against than gay men, but homophobes generally seem to care way, way less about lesbians than they do gay men. Some combination of valuing women's sexuality less, lesbians not threatening the sexuality of homophobic men the way gay men do, and the Bible not having a specific prohibition against women having sex with women.

No doubt it's a question of deciding whether you take greater exception to fundamentalist Christians or fundamentalist Muslims. I know at least one gay man who's of that attitude though I doubt it's especially commonplace.

There's also the thing where homophobes think lesbians are fine (as long as they're attractive) because they think there's a chance that they can watch, because they're loving morons who think porn is representative of reality. Also the whole concept of having somebody they can point to and go "see? we're not bigots!" when the reality is they will absolutely throw gay conservatives under the bus as soon as they stop being convenient.
