DC Murderverse posted:

Zack Snyder reads comments about the first JL trailer and doesn't like what he sees. "You want 'Color'? I'll give you 'color'..."

"Hey Tony, you know that final battle scene you've been working on? Make it all orange. Every single frame, crank up the orange dial all the way!"

"Yes I know there's not an actual orange dial. it's an expression, Jesus Tony, come on."

Joss Whedon will have been on the vast majority of final colouring decisions. Also there is actually an orange dial, for turning up the orange.

Justice League has the least convincing CGI for a superhero movie that I've seen in awhile, but now I really do want that Flash/Wonder Woman movie.

Would you say it looks like a cutscene from PS1?

More like VR. The characters are rendered well but I have no idea what I'm looking at or what perspective is.

I'd like a source for that quote myself. Nothing turns out at the moment and it goes against the statements given by the staff for this month's Empire coverage.

Unless of course :thejoke:

Oh, I totally missed a new re-release of MoS and BvS with steelbooks illustrated by Jim Lee

Probably to follow the WW's illustrated one

No news for SS getting the same treatment though.

I enjoy Jim Lee's work but he always draws Superman and Batman the same regardless the context, only changing costumes.

I don't know, that could thematically work for a Batman vs Superman movie promo art.

They were about to ask Greg Land but WB is afraid a porn studio might sue them.

None of them and all of them.

Also, I really believe that most of the reshoots for JL were just five second shots to tag on to the end of all the existing scenes that just have all the characters quickly smirk and throw out a quip.

EDIT: I have a good idea for a SNL sketch for when Cavill guest stars to promot JL.

Have a scene acted out that is super dark and gritty and really over the top Snyder, and then it cuts to a different camera angle of the same scene and Cavil has a mustache but the shot is bright and like like a CW show and he makes a joke, and then it cuts back to grim dark with no mustache, and back and forth a few times. If possible have it go on a little too long with no obvious punch line, but now I'm just making fun of too many things at once and I need to keep my SNL spec-script a little focused, so I'll stop now after just another joke where it ends with all the characters making a three point superhero landing for no reason.

I kinda like the red filter, as it gives it this ominous Hellish atmosphere. But the drawback is obviously that it drowns out all the other colors. The first clip you see the blue and orange hues, while the second one is just a red mist. You lose a fair bit of contrast, don't you?

The second gif also shows off a Whedon trademark(?): little blindingly-bright flashing lights scattered throughout the combat scenes, used to indicate where you are supposed to look at any given second.

I feel the bolts of lightning add to the to the ominous and dramatic atmosphere. The drawback is that it looks uglier.

I found it too busy. Less is more. As its been pointed out, there's no contrasts there. Even nerds who hated the previous two films for "not having color" don't like this junk.

It's from an earlier trailer and it's clear the Snyder-vision is on because the way WW is filmed (and the color palette) is really reminiscent of Faora's movement in MoS, and while the basic structure is still there in the new trailer, it's slowed down + that horrible color filter plastered all over it. I like how you can see Wonder Woman's shadow/reflection on the ground when she lands in the earlier trailer and now she's just floating there amongst all that other cgi poo poo.
It's going to be one mess of a film and I want to witness it.

It's weird they removed this. I get not thinking to add it, but taking it out from one version to the next is inexplicable.

Huh, yeah in the first clip the movement is reminiscent of MoS where you just saw a blur and then the result of the action. The second clip slowed it down so you can see the action itself.
