Man when you were describing the kid I was assuming 2-3, those years when kids can turn into absolute shits and have the mobility to run around and cause trouble but can be super hard to control since they still have baby brains. A loving 10 year old??? Jesus christ that's pathetic and sad parenting.

Hello, which one of you Chinagoons brought the air pollution from China over to the San Francisco bay area. The AQI is currently "unhealthy" which is about as bad as China on average. Thanks for starting a wildfire here.

Bajaj posted:Chaoshan Girl is really enjoying where we are going and what we are doing. She keeps shouting "OH MY GOD" when we arrive at a temple or ancient place. She is extremely amused and shocked at watching the wild pigs, monkeys, cows, dogs, and birds. She is equally amused by watching the bullock carts, camel carts, and wild humans. She is saddened by the poverty and homeless kids, disabled beggars, and so on. Overall, it's very eye-opening for her. She is very happy. She wanted to wear a sari, but had no one to teach her, so she bought these kid trainer saris with clips and buttons, since she's tiny, and has been wearing those and looking cute. This is what I hope happens to people when they travel outside their comfort zone. I mean, she was already pretty open minded but it's always encouraging to see it happen. Last time I went to India with coworkers, most everybody was at least able to get a little out of their comfort zones except for one guy. He would only eat the hotel breakfast (American style), McDonalds, and Dominos for the three weeks we were there. He would also never leave his hotel room, opting to watch Netflix by himself rather than go out and explore the city. Flying to Korea next week to visit the in-laws. I hope I don't get nuked out of this plane of existence while I'm there.

The grandparents live with them in their palace in an expensive part of SZ. It seems like nobody is raising the kid. CG told me the gossip that when I am not around (and they are acting decent), apparently the wife super henpecks the husband about everything and calls him names. A video game has hurt the feelings of the Chinese once again. A popular game where you can build your own space ships and fly adorable little creatures to their horrible deaths in them is being review bombed to poo poo on Steam. Why? Because they changed a "famous Chinese quote". Apparently the original famous quote was 不到长城非好汉 which the Internet tells me means "You're not a real man until you've climbed the Great Wall" which is some kind of Mao quote. In the game this was changed to 不到Mun非好汉 and printed on one of the space shuttles, meaning "you're not a real man until you've been to the Mun" (the game's version of the moon). Someone complained that this was sexist and the developers changed it to 不到Mun绝不罢休, which apparently means "Will never give up before having been to the Mun". This triggered massive review bombs (ie. Chinese players giving the game the most negative possible reviews) because it "devalues a beautiful Chinese saying" or some bullshit like that, or in other words, hurts their precious feelings. But best of all are the dudes who are trying to explain this away by saying if they changed Neil Armstrong's famous "one small step for man" quote to something like "walking on the moon is important for humanity", people in the West would riot, when really nobody would give two flying fucks and they just don't understand that. E: As a sidenote, this is starting to become a real problem on Steam. Chinese players are review bombing games for tons of reasons. Steam lists the game's overall crowd reception very prominently on their site and it's naturally worth a lot to have a game which the community rates "Overwhelmingly positively" or something, so when a ton of people take a poo poo on it and change that to "Mixed" or even "Negative", it will have real consequences for the developers, many of whom are very small independent teams. In the past games have been targeted for reasons including but not limited to... - Not having Chinese language options - Not having the CORRECT Chinese language options - Removing from their public Steam modification section a mod which was actually just a link to Pirate Bay from which the Chinese could download a pirated version of the game which was hacked to have Chinese language support - Not following the One China theology Of course it's not limited to exclusively Chinese players. Westerners have acted like giant babies as well and nuked games for being too SJW, not being SJW enough, being published by the same company that did something they didn't like etc etc. Shaman Tank Spec fucked around with this message at 10:09 on Oct 12, 2017 |

Oddly enough out here the elders always pay... maybe we're too young (still 20s) and therefore still considered "kids" but if I tried to pay for a meal it wouldn't just be the normal few-minute-long "Nooo, I'll pay" "No I'll pay" *weakly shoves you* "Noooo no I'll pay" drama, it would be a serious death glare and a straight up "Sit down, kid."

Amusingly, almost exactly a month ago, Valve added features to Steam to greatly mitigate the effects of review bombing. hailthefish fucked around with this message at 10:58 on Oct 12, 2017 |

EDIT: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^oohhboy posted:They have also review bombed Player Unknown's Battleground for having no China Servers. So many China players! Why no servers! Why lag so poo poo! Disrespect China! Chinese clients advertised VPNs in the main menu. Possible that the slow China servers were poo poo, also possible that the servers were made slow because an outside company was getting popular with China and they couldn't put out a proper knockoff game to fairly compete because the source arma mod code can't be spaghetti in critical places. And China players got marginally better performance(not by much) on foreign servers, at the expense of other regions' games having almost a full second of latency because a half dozen players are in China. I worry that this might have been a genuine effort to humanize African animals by portraying them alongside humans from Africa, and it was extremely poorly executed with bad photography. It's a very optimistic possibility, but then again, hailthefish posted:Can you offer any explanation as to why half the chinese review bombs of KSP are ranting about "not bowing to feminazis"? I believe the "femnazis" review bombing is leftover vitriol to "female versions of little green men that you murder in the name of science" but they had no momentum to do something this brazen. Now that the dam of negativity is broken, they're dumping that pent up hate to enhance the effect, and also to hide in the crowd. Personally, the sell to Take Two is the biggest rant I'd make, but it's still a good game. Mistle fucked around with this message at 11:11 on Oct 12, 2017 |
