I can't find any actual explanation, but I think it is meant to be YESSendon. It is bad, anyway.

Good old Gimpey :allears: He'll do alright at Hawthorn. Very much a player who can add some cream to a list rather than form a vital cog but he's alright for effectively a second round pick.

Dev Smith to Essendon done. GWS get 11, Essendon get Smith, 24 and next year's second rounder :psyduck:

I'm pretty happy with that. The Dogs had their chance at a deal involving 11 but decided not to take it. Stiff poo poo.

Expecting a statement from the Dogs tomorrow saying they keep Stringer or one of the media hacks they're close to (i.s. Mark Stevens) will report essentially the same thing, Stringer staying, deal unlikely blah blah blah. They'll chew on it a bit, try and find an alternative deal (which probably won't happen unless Geelong match Essendon's eventual offer of 2 second round picks) but other clubs won't want to get involved and toward the end of trade period the trade will get done involving a bunch of complex pick swaps in an attempt to save face.

The trade to get Saad to Essendon looks like it could happen tomorrow too.

Both clubs seem to have done ok out of it. I don't really know much about him but we need more people in his age bracket so Woo.

Of course you're happy with it, it's a rort. Also the Dogs are very much happy to hang on to Stringer if they have to.

hiddenmovement posted:

From an unbiased viewpoint I reckon the crows are laughing and the dons did well. Yeah, 11 is a high pick but two picks in the 20s/early 30s isn't a bad return with a good player bundled in as well.

This draft has been routinely reported as diving in quality after the first dozen or so picks. 11 still has a good chance of a slider coming good for it but late 20s/30s are going to likely be garbage picks this draft.

Also I guarantee at this point that Essendon's future first is going to used to get stringer.
*Edit, except that they traded their round 3 next year so they CANT trade next years 1st. Congrats dodoro, you just missed out on stringer full stop.

I’m thinking that we’re not that fussed on him, if it can be worked out for whatever is left over from potentially chasing Saad, Miles etc then cool. Happy for us not to be in a position to trade away a first rounder next year considering it’s supposed to be a poo poo hot draft.

Also, Plugger looks like he is turning into a Terminator T-800 Exoskelleton

Crozier trade is done. Pick 40 & 82 for him with a future fourth rounder heading back to the Bulldogs. We have a father-son next year who is pretty highly rated so we'll probably be burning points on him so having some picks later on is useful.

edit: Dalrymple actually wanted Crozier with pick 14 back in 2011, Brendan McCartney overruled him and wanted Clay Smith.

So Port get a really good 'no fuss' player to bolster their midfield (Rockliff) and possibly two 'cream on top' players (Motlop, confirmed, and possibly Watts). Could be very dangerous next year.

I think it was a fair trade in the end, a good deal for the Bulldogs, but we got a good deal from them last year for Hamling. Two clubs not being jerks.
