BGM: Praise "Sweet." "And what about pepper jack cheese?" "Spicy." "Then how about anchovy pizza? And lemonade?!" "...I see, so that's what it is..." "Anchovies are salty. Lemonade is sour. So what is it? Do the letters match the tastes?" "That's right! The second letter of sweet is 'W'. The second letter of spicy is 'P', salty is 'A', and sour is 'O'! So, what does black coffee taste like?" "Bitter!" "Exactly! And the second letter of bitter is... Wait, your dad lets you drink coffee?" "Nice job. You got it right, Eva-sama and Ange-sama." "Aunt Eva, you're so awesome!!" "We had to work together to solve that one. It's a team effort." "And here is my medal. Please take it." "Alright, I got another medal! Thanks!" "You didn't get it, did you, Kanon-kun? I'll bet it was hard." "...Not bad, coming from you, Nee-san..." "Why don't you try saying 'sorry for making fun of you'? If you don't, I'll make all your meals 'O' and 'I'." "'O' is one thing, but eating 'I' all the time would be awful." "I wanna eat 'W' all the time!" "Careful, you'll get cavities. But if you ever come to my house to play, I'd be more than willing to share." "Yay!! I love you, Aunt Eva!!" In the end, Kanon caved under the threat of 'I' cooking and was forced to apologize to Shannon... Shannon's puzzle in Japanese: Same structure, but: A = amainattou (sugared natto) S = shiosenbei (salty rice crackers) K = curry rice (karee raisu) N = black coffee ? = lemonade The answer is just using the first letter of the taste - amai, shoppai, karai, nigai, suppai. The English version would have been too easy if left like that, since you don't have to translate from kana to romaji, so they made it a little harder by changing it to the second letter. "Yeah. Thanks!" "It seems the other still have some brain-twisters waiting for you. Please be careful." "Good point. Everyone left looks like they'll be a challenge." "But we'll win! We can do it if we work together...!" "That's right. Let's combine our wits and move on!" "Goodbye. And good luck." BGM: Wingless The dining hall was filled with such an exciting and fun atmosphere, but out here in the corridor, one was reminded of the fierce winds and the rain. But they were satisfied with this. The whole point of the noisy farewell party was to forget the loneliness of the rain for just a little bit. "I feel relieved. Finally, we won't have to be toys for anyone else. I'd like to be quietly forgotten, to get covered with dust and vanish." "You're wrong. We aren't going to vanish like that." "..." "In the world locked inside the cat box, our future will continue, unknown to anyone." "...You're right. Sorry. That's a world that even we can't know about, so I forgot." "Just what kind of future will we make for ourselves in the cat box world?" "I don't know. That's why it's called a cat box." "...Good point." "Don't you have any regrets, Nee-san? About George-sama, for instance?" "..." "Receiving that ring is all you can do for George-sama. As for marriage, living together, and all the rest..." "Our future inside the cat box is what'll make all that come true, isn't it? I'm not the only one. It's the same for you, right? What about a future for you and Milady Jessica?" "...I'm..." "I could break off my engagement with George-sama, then leave the island and disappear. That future is also possible for me. In that world, you wouldn't have to hesitate for my sake. You could enjoy your youth to the fullest with Milady." "...If you gave up on your engagement with George-sama, that sort of world might be possible." "So, since it's a cat box, the world where I spend my life with George-sama and the world where you spend your life with Milady can both exist at the same time." "...It's a world where any contradicting dreams can exist at once." "That's the world we'll be put away in as pieces. So, there's no need to be lonely, no need to be sad. Even though the 'me' here right now can only observe the part where I accept George-sama's ring." The cat box is such a strange thing, a place where any pieces and toys and dreams can be kept. It's no cage sealing us in. On the contrary, being inside the cat box means being free from everything in countless worlds... "A world where we're freed from everything, and yet where all of our wishes come true. However, the 'me' in that world won't be the 'me' here and now. That's a bit depressing." "...Hey, Kanon-kun." "Yes...?" "Let's do it." "...What?" "Duel." "...Are you sure?" "We both wished we'd settled this much sooner. And yet, we've put it off until the last moment, just before the game is going to end." "...Sure. The game is nearly over anyway. Now, at the very end... It's time for us to settle things by ourselves." "That way, we'll be able to see our future before we're put away in the cat box." "...Sure. Let's do it. How will we decide it? A coin? Or with pistols again...?" "Ummm, so, why don't we have our own quiz tournament?" "...Huh? You're really getting into this." "Okay, then... First question-" BGM: Stuffed Toy "I'll solve it. I'll definitely solve it...!" As soon as Maria and Ange crossed gazes, they started fighting. The two girls so close in age were really good friends, but they also fought a lot. Especially when they were opponents in a game. "Maria-chan probably knows tons of different quizzes. This should be interesting. Let's have it." "Kihhihihihi, not now. I'm the star, so I'll go after Mama!" "Really? You're sure it's okay for me to go first?" "Yeah!" "Then let's begin. Ready? E. 8 ingots Rationale: The question doesn't say anything about how many she can bring to the surface, merely how many she can carry out of the room. Starting from the surface, we can do 7 round trips of 8 minutes each, then make it down to the basement again for the last one with one minute remaining. It's not survivable, but she can probably get it out of the room at the very least? It seems a bit weak in comparison to the last couple puzzles, but Rosa's riddle revolves around the concept of herself being blown to smithereens, so maybe they're going for something here other than just stimulating the audience's wit. Especially since Maria is coming up next, and they've probably got the least idyllic mother/daughter relationship here. Maria flipping out and crying over the idea of her mother being killed, despite how cruel she has been in other fragments, would seem to bolster Battler's aims here in trying to get Ange and Eva to somehow reconcile? Kytrarewn's rationale did occur, but if it takes longer with the gold ingot, then it's possible she won't get out of the room in time. Screw it, I know this is gonna be another trick question. E. 8 ingots Rune Full Moon fucked around with this message at 14:41 on Oct 15, 2017 |

....isn't the underground VIP room where you're safe from the explosion? Why would she take any out before the blast? Though, to answer the question as asked: 3 minutes from the surface to the room, 5 minutes back with an ingot makes a round trip 8 minutes. 8 can go into 60 7 times (56) with 4 left over, which is even enough time to get back to the underground room. At this point I'm suspicious of a trick question, so I'm not entirely sure that's right, but I'll spoiler it anyway e: Hm. I really don't like that as even a trick answer, but yeah I suppose the puzzle says nothing about Rosa staying safe (and the siblings are certainly shown as having been extremely greedy so far). Mainly what I don't like is that we don't know how far she'd get in the last minute, if she'd even get out of the VIP room by then, but I suppose we're already abstracting away time spent in the VIP room anyway. It would satisfy the expectation of needing a trick answer that's been built up by a few of these. Going to need some time to chew this over before actually voting, though I'll probably end up just going with 8. Unless the trick here is that Rosa wouldn't actually be quite that greedy... I'm going with E for the same reasons Kytrarewn brought up. The key is that you're asked how many ingots Rosa takes out of the room, not how many she takes to the surface. EDIT: I don't think it matters how long it takes Rosa to get an ingot out of the room. If it did, then it would be included in the question since depending on how long it takes the answer would change (more than a minute means Rosa doesn't get the eighth ingot out of the room, less than a minute means she does). That's precisely why it's a bad solution. Using this logic, the answer is not given, and should actually be anywhere from 57 to 'all of them'. I'll agree that it's probably what they intend, but like several of them so far, the puzzle is poorly phrased.

The objective is to bring "each person" to the other side, so the food and animals can be ignored. In which case, you only need 3 trips, peasant+shepard, peasant, peasant+wife. So the answer is A: less than 10 And although it's not required, you can also stop the food from getting eaten if you just bring the vegetables over first. So we should probably assume that "rear bank" is just a typo and not that everyone is already where they need to be. I'm inclined towards A for the following reasons: For any n objects where one must be in the boat for it to move, the smallest number of trips required is 2n-3. One trip there and back to move two things and return one, or two trips per object until there are exactly two, at which point one trip for both of them. So without any tricks the bare minimum number of steps for 7 objects is 11. That's just math homework getting that answer, not thinking about any of the special rules for these specific objects. And since it's multiple choice for number of steps, we could give a correct answer without actually solving the riddle. That just seems wrong. Furthermore, none of these riddles since Kumasawa have been totally straightforward with no trick, and there's a number of possible tricks: the aforementioned only caring about transporting people I am really curious why E is "Something Else" instead of "26 steps or more". Further support for my Battler as Green Arrow theory.

After all, look at all the people here wishing for her happiness. And now, Battler is the Game Master, and he's set up this final game just for Ange's sake. After all this, there's no way she won't be happy." "...Still, even though everyone can bring a person happiness, only the person can grasp it for themselves." "That's right. That kid is really bad at finding Fragments of happiness. Even though we tried to teach her how, she's been covering her ears for 12 full years. This game might be much harder for Ange than Battler thinks." "...I'm sure that Ange will find happiness." "Yeah. If she really does enjoy herself at this party, that itself might be the greatest lesson we can teach her now." 12 years in the future, she will become the last person to inherit Beatrice's name. "At one point in time, that kid understood my white magic." "Yeah. And she understood me too." "She even summoned all of the Seven Sisters and understood magic itself. And yet, she still can't use magic on herself." "...Beato." "It is easy to cast magic on other people. And believing in other people's magic is not so difficult. The hardest thing is casting magic on yourself." "Is that... something Ange can do...?" "She can. Even that Battler managed to understand magic. Of course his little sister will be able to do the same." "You're right. There are some magics that we can only see when we're kids. There are some that only adults can understand. Right now, Ange is between the two of those." "She's lost the magic of children, and yet, she has yet to understand the magic of adults. The most painful period of one's life." "It's so sad... that she didn't have anyone close to her during that period..." "That's not true. We're always by that kid's side. She just doesn't believe it." Ange, please, realize that quickly. There are so many people smiling at you from behind, watching over you. Zack Ater posted:Is "Nipah" a verbal tick type of thing, or does that mean something? It's a reference to Rika from Higurashi, AKA Bernkastel's former human incarnation.

ProfessorProf posted:It's a reference to Rika from Higurashi, AKA Bernkastel's former human incarnation. Yeah, Rika, Satoko, and Miyoko are all names from Higurashi. "Nipah" is Rika's mandatory moe vocal tic. Higurashi spoilers: In some ways this is another clue since Rika is absolutely the oldest of the three in Higurashi, given timey-wimey shenanigans. So the trick might be that there is no trick at all.
