Danganronpa games are amusing diversions with some funny voice acting and scenarios and some occasionally good writing. I'd never pay to play them but I find them interesting enough to watch them once.

The ending to DR3 is the best thing in the whole series. The fact that it pisses of some DR diehards just makes it better.

If it was BR-ish it'd be much better. BR isn't just kids killing other kids. It's also all about their reactions to that, and the viewer/reader's likely reaction to it as well. Half the problem with DR is that the kids seem to have no reaction at all to being in a death game. "Kill someone? Oh, nobody would ever do that! Let's all go swimming!"

To me it ultimately just comes down to: if you really want a VN with death games, play 999/VLR/ZTD as those are all solid examples of that (and the puzzle solving is a way more interesting gameplay mechanic than the trials in DR), and if you want VN murder mystery solvin' go for Ace Attorney or Umineko. DR's attempt to bring both of these aspects together ultimately results in it not doing either particularly well nor do they gel together in a way that makes it compelling.

This is exactly what happens to me when I replay the FO games. I install them, install a bunch of mods, play for an hour, and then remember I don't like the gameplay in the Fallout games and quit

I don’t think I’ve yet played a Layton game where the big dumb plot twist about the setting actually was more interesting than what they initially lead you to believe was going on (Diabolical Box was maybe the closest exception).

The Phoenix Wright crossover was especially bad about this.

I'm having this problem with Stardew Valley, I really want to try some new stuff but every time I think about combing through the official forums for up to date mods all my will to setup the game is sucked away.

I really wish Stardew had steam workshop integration. :sigh:

The overarching narrative about the end of the world and despair is one of the things I always hated about Danganronpa. I pretty much just ignored it because it always felt silly and it didn't feel like it contributed much to the story.

DR3 spoilers: Which is part of why I love the DR 3 ending so much; it straight up says all of that was bullshit. It was drama dreamed up for the sake of manipulating the show's participants. The scenarios never made any sense but you just have to handwave that away with "well its an anime game, whatever". The idea that it literally, in-universe, was just nonsense dreamed up for the show works so much better for justifying that nonsense.

what? bullshit. you need these mods to make the game playable:

Buxom Cleavage Portraits Fully Nude
Kawaii Hats
Hot Pam - with vanilla
Monster Girl Livestock

and also this one: DCBurger's Portraits(Hi-Res version Update) https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/888/

Played the game for roughly 2 ingame months and the only thing I'd immedeatly mod if I had the chance was a way to locate villagers on the map. I'm getting really sick of failing quests because I don't know all the NPCs schedules well enough to pinpoint where they are gonna be.

Even the worst of the DR games (not counting Ultra Despair Girls) was better than the wet fart of an ending that was ZTD and the trials are fun and cool looking and I'd say I'd prefer them to the 'my first adventure game' puzzling of the Zero Escape games too.

This is the one mod that I would consider essential. The game is great on its own but this fixes the one most annoying issue.

What happened with Ultra Despair Girls? It's mentioned in almost hushed tones in the DR2 LP as a terrible game but I'm not sure if that's based on the gameplay or content.
