http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/london-police-move-save-400m-by-not-probing-certain-crimes-could-lead-vigilante-justice-1643248

quote:

London's Metropolitan Police will no longer investigate hundreds of thousands of crimes in a bid to save £400m, it has been reported, raising fears that members of the public will seek vigilante justice.

The Sun reported that the Met would investigate 150,000 fewer offences, such as burglaries, thefts and some assaults, unless victim reports can identify a suspect.

New guidelines, called the Crime Assessment Policy, have established that burglaries should only be investigated if suspects use violence or have tricked their way inside the property.

Crimes involving a loss of under £50 or low-level incidents of grievous bodily harm will not be investigated unless a suspect has been identified.

The new guidelines also state that CCTV should only be analysed if a crime happens within a 20-minute time frame and "sharp images showing a suspect can be collected immediately".

The Met hopes to save £400m by 2020, which comes in addition to the £600m lost from its £3.7bn annual budget.

There is a genuine criticism if one equates freedom of movement to be part of internationalism. What will you tell the polish working class when you kick them out under the banner of socialism?

I guess the answer is " go and start class warfare in your home country?"

seems like the answer to poverty is to go on the rob for items that are £49.99 or less, then if someone tries to identify or detain you, GBH them up a bit

they over-estimated the amount of british held foreign investments.

think of it as an investment fund for U.K. PLC

and instead of holding £460bn in assets around the world, the UK as a whole owes 22bn lol

Just yelling 'ur racist u anti-socialist reactionary' at people does not win friends or influence people. The outlook of the young across the world is purestrain garbage and you need to come up with a compelling argument for how internationalism founded on freedom of movement rather than solidarity in struggles is the right way to go. You can unionise every shop and make union membership compulsory then through a combination of government regulation and direct action by labor force the shops to act fairly or you can close the borders and kick out every johnny foreigner and have wages on jobs people are currently unwilling to do at the compensation offered have their wages raise to meet the market.

Freedom of movement being a plank of internationalism relies on every government in the world acting in good faith to help the workers have a good quality of life which is a laughable idea. One country turns scab and the entire house of cards topples.

Fallen Rib
Free movement of people is in principle a very good thing, but it has its roots in capitalism. IMO it will inevitably lead to wage suppression (among other issues like brain-drain) without wholesale intervention by the States in to the labour market to prevent a decline in wages.

(which I'm also supportive of)

e: + capital intervention required too obviously
