Kevin Smith's entire filmography is like getting home from a five year trek across Africa and your buddy insisting he's gained wisdom beyond your understanding from sitting in his room and smoking weed.

You’re not wrong. In fact, I couldn’t have put better words to it. I just had the unfortunate impulse to let people know I know about that particular thing. Oh well. It’s too late now.

High heels should go away. They look bad, they are uncomfortable, and they make a loving annoying sound when people walk around in them.

Moss and the German was pretty funny start to finish. Are We Not Men was pretty good as well. I went back and watched a couple from season 1 and they're still just bad, so I started watching season 2 and it's a lot better. I'll go ahead and say The IT Crowd is a pretty decent show once it hits season 2. Look at that, the unpopular opinion thread managed to change my unpopular opinion. Huh.

I mean aside from the ones who like ladies to step on their nuts with them. I feel like that fashion statement interest from a guys point of view mostly started to die out in the 80s cause I’ve never heard anyone under 60 talk about how sexy a woman in high heels is

Speaking of fashion: women have it easier when it comes to workwear than men. There is a lot more freedom to dress according to the season. "Oh, men have it so easy! You can basically wear the same uniform to work every day!" Yes, I can wear closed-toe leather shoes and clothing that covers my entire body from my neck down to my wrists and ankles, every day. You try it for a week in July and see how liberating it is "Oh but you can buy seersucker suits, and linen suits, and..." shut up. How many men do you know who can afford a whole second wardrobe of suits for the summer? And if your job requires a suit, it's probably not acceptable to wear seersucker. "But I have to buy a whole second wardrobe for the..." shut up. I have a summer wardrobe, too.

I think it is largely true that women often have more range in choices fashion-wise, at least as far as operating within established dress-codes goes, but that really doesn't make it easier to meet expectations, because there is an expectation of that range being utilized appropriately and really not just on your whim and comfort.

I like heels. They make my legs look great and they have natural arch support. Stilettos are tough, sure, but blocks, kittens and wedges are comfy, easy as hell to walk in and are way more common. I also like being able to reach that top shelf. 😐 E: Also, tons of places have policies against open-toe shoes. For everyone.

I was allowed dress casual when I did some network admin work and it was great. Wish they warned me before the day I had to go into a very tense meeting with a software vendor who was doing sub par work. Sitting in a boardroom with everyone else in suits trying to decide how far up I should zip my hoodie to look most formal.

I'm envious of the fashion range women can wear in general, not necessarily of the options themselves, but the range. There's easily 10-20 cuts/styles of shirts that women can wear in most settings that look normal/good/acceptable and guys basically get 3 shirts to choose from ever (t-shirt, polo, button up). Then you get into fabric, pattern and color options and the difference gets even wider. We joke a lot at work that the guy's uniform is a plaid button up, but that's basically what 90% of shirts for guys are if you don't want to wear a t-shirt to work. I try my best to find cool prints and vary the fabrics up when I can, but options are slim unless you want to spend a poo poo ton of money on custom stuff.

Yeah, range is great when you actually can and would like to utilize it, but I just really wouldn't describe women's dress code or expectations on appearances as "easier" to live up or adhere to.

The flip side is that guys have to put a lot less effort into their wardrobe because nobody expects us to be the least bit put together. Every time I go to a big conference the female execs will be dressed to the nines and the dudes will be wandering around in mismatched suits. The levels of fucks not given are just off the charts.

Black or navy suit, dress shirt (blue, white, or a "suitable solid color"/ no patterns allowed), understated tie, black socks (no pattern), and black shoes. Every day. No exceptions. I wore a brighter blue shirt and a sharper black/blue/white/grey tie once and had to go home and change. Working in a downtown bank is worse dress code wise than working retail.

Oh for sure, we have it way easier. Hell just throwing on a fitted button down, jeans that fit and decent sneakers puts me leagues above how some dudes dress and it's stupidly easy to get dressed in the mornings.
