I feel you. The fascist haircut du jour was basically the only way my hair ever actually behaved, so now I'm back to looking like a god-damned unruly mop so as to not be mistaken for some sister-loving douche.

Listened to that episode from way back with the guy from Reason, and he folds in exactly the same way every libertarian I've ever talked to folds. "Well, I'm OK with that kind of socialism" and repeat for every possible issue.

There should be an intervention programme for young libertarians to explain to them that socialists also want an end to war and drug prohibition and we won't even make you pretend to care about the gold standard

So "libertarianism" just means a vague desire for freedom from government for most people, while actual anarcho-libertarianism remains incredibly unpopular.

And, like Matt was saying in the most recent episode, politics to these freaks is just making people they don't like feel bad, because they lack any positive vision of society. Also, they getting paid for this poo poo. Now, why are the Koch brothers funding this shock theater? I don't think they have the same mindset when it comes to politics, I think they actually want to win, so I am having a hard time squaring that circle. Maybe they are just senile at this point or something

Also, they getting paid for this poo poo. The Kochs don’t understand youth at all so they’ve entrusted the world’s most repulsive young people to build a conservative movement among millennials by any means possible. It’s not like the TPUSA people are asking for diaper money. They already have funds and have to find a way to use them.

giant corporations have found ways to fund useless poo poo like team building training camps where half the members get 3rd degree burns on their soles, or booking idiotic motivational speakers like dilbert adams or hillary clinton, all off the backs of refusing to pay their employees a decent salary in the same way, the kochs have been successfully reducing their tax responsibilities, and been using the money saved to hire balding 19 year old men indulge their sexual proclivities

Yeah, it's not like these two octogenarians have their finger on the pulse of culture, it just costs them very little in the grand scheme of things to fund these astroturfing projects like they've been doing for decades. They're doing it for much the same reason people with Plutonian hoards of capital throw it at doomed startups.

They fund stuff like this so they can get the message out about this stuff. Even if 99% of people think it’s dumb if they get that 1% on board it’s a win for them. Also it keeps the whole idea of “safe spaces are a silly concept” in the discourse despite it being a pretty normal idea.
