Fellatio del Toro posted:Last turn of a Toad escort mission and Peach turns for a reactive shot and shotguns Toad right in the face High five I anticipated her using a reactive shot and positioned her properly but an enemy pushed or bounced her, I forget which, and her new position boomed Toadette. This was in the final challenge of world 3. Incidentally, I think challenge 3-10 is also the ideal mission length, so if anyone can confirm if the DLC challenges are around that long, it'll help me make a decision about buying them.

Yeah I didn't do that but that's because I didn't want to run across a puzzle that needed a BEEM-O ability I didn't have, I really hated running through the overworld several times, particularly world 3. What a mess.

I am pretty sure that every world is self-contained and can be 100%ed with the power you get after the boss, so you only have to back once

I think someone earlier in the thread said that while the overworld isn't "good," it's great as a cooldown between the more mentally-taxing battles, and I agree entirely. In fact, now I wish every turn-based strategy game had a big dumb overworld with easy environmental puzzles in them. Except for backtracking through World 3, that part was terrible. ETA: In other turn-based strategy games I usually can only do one battle per sitting, but in this game I constantly got caught in the loop of doing a battle, being ready to clock out but deciding to lazily explore the next area of the overworld, and then by the time I discovered the next battle I would be ready to play again. mancalamania fucked around with this message at 16:44 on Oct 21, 2017 |

We finished this game while we were on vacation. There were a couple days at the end where it was just non-stop torrential downpour so we just relaxed in our hotel room playing Rabbids. (The Switch is so nice as a portable system. ). We collected everything in every world, 100% and finished all the Ultimate Challenges. The only thing we didn't finish were the co-op missions, and those don't give you any prizes so whatever. Final thoughts: the World 3 boss was the best one in the game, bar none. Game is super good, all the characters were cool and fun to use, and I wish you could have a larger party and/or weren't required to use Mario all the time. The dude felt like dead weight on a lot of the later maps. I'd have liked to use more Rabbids instead!

What kind of weapons should I have priority in buying? Money seems kinda tight and I don’t want to possibly get screwed over on something and have to grind. I’m also letting the skill tree auto-fill since I’m new to these kinda games. Is that a bad idea?

You can respec the skill tree for free at any time so there's never a reason to have spare orbs, except the autofill seems to like wasting points on the stupid extra coin power which is kind of a waste IMO. I always make sure Mario has at at least the current or previous tier of weapons. For the rest of the members I purchase the most recent tier of weapons if I realize they'd be good for a particular map. (Usually I realize they're good for a particular map by using them and noticing that they'd actually be really effective if I'd upgraded them more). The descriptions of the locked weapons tell you when those will be unlocked, so you'll have a good idea of whether or not you're wasting money on a weapon that will be obsoleted the following level.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8t4HrRK6gg0 Donkey Kong makes his playable debut in Mario + Rabbids as a DLC character, and gets a story focused on him. Besides that, the new enemy models, the new setting for his story which is a jungle (of course), and the fact that he uses a bananarang, we know literally nothing about what'll be in his DLC pack.

Price point vs content is going to be the decider for me, which I guess is true for most DLC. I wonder if we'll get a full blown act with mini and major boss, or just a few levels.

^burtle posted:Price point vs content is going to be the decider for me, which I guess is true for most DLC. I wonder if we'll get a full blown act with mini and major boss, or just a few levels. I think it's gonna be a whole new world, but I don't know. Now, Donkey Kong will be interesting: I kinda hope both his primary and secondary weapons are different from all the other characters so far, but that does make me wonder how good he'll be overall. As it is, he could easily be better than the Yoshis. Also, I finally completed the game's story. I just need to get Gold Trophies on two levels and do Ultimate Challenge nr. 4 and then I've done everything the base game has to offer. Also, Luigi's ultimate weapon is great, probably one of the best ones. Being able to round him out with Ink on both weapons or Ink on his primary (since his ultimate weapon is for his primary weapon type) and Bounce on his secondary is great. (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 2.) Also very happy with Rabbid Mario's ultimate weapon. I prefer Vampire on his primary since it's a ranged AoE, so his ultimate weapon let's me pair it up with the best Stone Hammer for good effect. (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 3.) Mario's ultimate weapon is also good in my book. Since his ultimate weapon isn't his primary weapon, I'm really happy that this Hammer comes with the Bounce status as Bounce is unquestionably better on a melee range weapon than Honey is, despite me preferring the latter. (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 1.) Peach's ultimate weapon is a Grenade which kinda blows. But it's effect isn't Burn which makes me happy. (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 3.) Rabbid Peach gets one of the better ultimate weapons. It's a secondary weapon, like Mario and Peach, but since her secondary weapon is probably the best of any of the secondaries (with Hammer as the second best), this works out great. Even better is that she has Push and not Burn on it, which is her best status effect by far (because Fire sucks and is made redundant with Push). (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 2.) Rabbid Luigi's ultimate weapon is my only true disappointment so far. While rocket launchers are decent, the effect is Burn which is inferior to Push (the only other status effect Rabbid Luigi can cause with his rocket launchers). I suppose it could work if I snipe at enemies from far away which, granted, is more than possible with the rocket launcher, but it's still rather disappointing, and it's why I still keep the rocket launcher which can cause Push and has only slightly less damage than this one. (Unlocked for purchase by completing Ultimate Challenge 1.) EDIT: Just got the last two Gold Trophies and completed Ultimate Challenge 4 (with Mario, Rabbid Mario, and Luigi) so now I've finally 100%ed everything in the base game. As expected, the ultimate weapons for the Yoshis are gotten from Ultimate Challenge 4. Rabbid Yoshi's ultimate weapon is of his primary weapon type: the Rumblebang. The Rumblebang is probably my least favorite primary weapon, but this one does have Stone and an increased chance to inflict it compared to other Rumblebang weapons (40%) in addition to the usual 10% increase in damage against Midbosses so it's a good weapon for him. Yoshi's ultimate weapon is a rocket launcher, like Rabbid Luigi, which is decent. Unfortunately, it has Freeze instead of Ink as it's status effect, which makes me sad. I think I'll be using his Gold secondary instead. Folt The Bolt fucked around with this message at 22:07 on Jan 14, 2018 |

The overworld in this game is confusing and annoying to navigate. That's my only criticism of this fine game. I finished world 1 and now I'm going thru the challenge missions and they're fun. I've been trouncing them, but only because I squeeze the absolute most out of my team each turn. Is there a trick to the fourth challenge? It's a medium challenge in which you are required to reach a specifies area in a single turn. There are a couple special looking big Rabbids and your teammates are spread out.

Even more spoilery answer: Position someone such that the Smasher will bounce them over the gap and into the goal area. Done.

For that challenge you can also just use Luigi, reset all his skills into movement, and then just walk him to the zone.

I think Rabbid Luigi is honestly the best character in the game. I had him solo the final part of Ultimate Challenge 2 (when the Bwaaah Trio and the Midbosses appeared) thanks to his Vamp Dash and Stone-inflicting Bworb (Mario and Luigi had died by then). Rabbid Mario and Luigi come in shared second place. And after those two, it's Mario. Like, I'd probably rank them like this: 1. Rabbid Luigi 2-3. Luigi & Rabbid Mario 4. Mario 5. Rabbid Peach 6. Peach 7. Yoshi 8. Rabbid Yoshi

There's so many levels where you can kill almost every enemy on the first turn and it doesn't matter how much damage you take for being aggressive because Rabbid Luigi lets you heal fully the next turn.
