Also, from the beginning everyone has treated the dossier with a degree of caution so it’s not like everyone was using it as a reference document. Finally, it’s been known right from the start where the dossier came from and who paid for it. Everyone already knows this.

Michael Cohen was supposedly in or near Prague sometime around August according to the dossier. Cohen does not have any recorded travel right now to/from the Czech Republic but he did fly into and out of Italy in July. And once in Italy he could have traveled to Prague without additional passport stamps. So the claim is basically unverified, with an interesting tidbit that puts him with the ability to be in Prague within a month or so of the dossier's claim. https://www.buzzfeed.com/anthonycormier/trumps-lawyer-showed-you-the-cover-of-his-passport-heres?utm_term=.my6qOYM27#.egb8qmOYA

"There is great unity in the Republican party", once again the whole Russia thing is "an excuse for losing an election", and he said he had an idea of which republican paid for the dossier but won't say. Also "the press makes me more uncivil than I actually am." Yes. A thing he actually literally said.

I guess Virginia is the next big test. national elections are across the states. this means that very populous, very blue states like new york and california can rack up the dem votes without having any impact on increasingly red and empty flyover and southern states you can't meaningfully compare national results and expect state and local level results to match that

That doesn't follow. Approval numbers aren't asking "would you vote for x against any member of the opposing party", and that's the important question for elections. There are lots of people who don't like Trump (or at least will tell pollsters they don't approve of his performance), but will always and forever vote straight ticket R regardless of who the actual candidates are.

Some polls are garbage, but if you look at them in aggregate and ignore pollsters with bad reputation, they are highly predictive of the final margin. Some people idiotically decided polls were worthless after the 2016 election, but they are wrong.
