I'd rather drive a PT convertible than a Murano convertible.

I think cars like Solara, Sebring, PT Crapper convertibles, people only buy them for the sake of "its a convertible".

And more often then not, when I come across another convertible, the lid is up. 74 and sunny? Lid up. 90 and overcast? Lid up. I will never understand.

My theory is these people like the idea of a convertible, or being able to tell people they own one, but not the actual use of one.

It's honestly pretty awful when you think about it. Everyone romanticises cruising with the top down but it's gotta be loud as gently caress on the highway and who wants road noise? Especially in something like a lebaron where there really isn't anything pleasant to listen to.

My dad had an MX-5 and drove it in Perth, Western Australia, for a total of 428 days straight without putting the top up. He had a lock up garage at home, and secure parking at work, and it was the middle of a pretty bad drought. He just left the top down and dealt with the occasional tiny shower as they came, until finally the skies properly opened up and he had to put the lid back up before driving home. Convertible-ing done right.

I'm in Chattanooga, so it's top-down weather 9 months out of the year. With heated seats, I can stay comfortable even down to the mid-50s.

I went almost a full year without having the T tops on and then a freak hail storm reminded me that it wasn't always the best idea.

My S2000 feels quieter with the top down than up, lol To be fair, the interior is 100% gone behind the front seats to make room for a rollbar. I refuse to drive the wife's Mini convertible with the top up, unless it is absolutely pouring rain or hailing or something Driving a convertible with the top down when it's snowing is awesome, by the way

I never drive the Abarth with the top up. I drive it to work a day or two per week and the top is down both ways of my 45 minute drive. I'll wear a sweater in the morning and blast the seat heaters. I honestly can't even remember what it's like to drive that car with the top up. The fact that it's almost a cross between a convertible and a coupe works so well. It's more of a "massive, cloth sunroof" than anything else.

I have driven a 240sx convertible in -20C weather before. Blast the heat and wear a scarf and you're golden. e: the frame rigidity of a 240sx convertible was terrible car stuff.

It's the combination of original provenance and having to supply weather balloons to chase you if you leave town in it.

The thing that I remember most about the 240SX convertibles was how expensive they were. It was like $30k in the early 90s.
