Sir Lemming posted:I know I watched all of it, but looking back at the episode titles and descriptions, there's so much I don't remember. Half the episodes I can vaguely remember thinking were okay, the other half I would almost think I didn't see at all, except I know I did. Honestly, 16 was where I realized the magic was gone. 15 had “The Last of the Meheecans” and a couple others but 16 was mostly crap. The last episode that I loved and continuously quote is Creme Fraiche, and there were parts of that season that made me go “hrmmmm.” Like, 14 has Medicinal Fried Chicken, Sexual Healing, The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs, You Have 0 Friends AND Crippled Summer. Hell, I still haven’t seen 201. And the Coon Saga has its moments but it’s just drawn out forever. I’d say the closest episode in recent years that made me laugh like those episodes was “Cock Magic,” which unsurprisingly is a Randy episode. I know this argument gets rehashed every year, but I think it’s an interesting one all the same. I think part of it is the plots of newer episodes barely scratch the surface. Creme Fraiche goes INSANE w the cooking as porn and Randy’s obsession w cooking. My late buddy and I used to quote the 1-900 conversation all the time. https://youtu.be/WbKDxt8PdCQ “oh yeah shallots, that won’t overwhelm the chicken’s natural flavors” “I’ve got a wooden spoon right here”

On a related note, the season 10 episode where Satan was having his spoiled birthday bash with the Ferrari cake, serial killer stooges, and Butters summoning Biggie Smalls was on last night and I just remembered how funny it was compared to some of the latest episodes (and all of last season).

It seems all the decisions they make have been for the worse: 14 eps > 10. Nope. 2 mini seasons > 1. Nope. Making eps in a week. Nope. Constantly doing current events. Nope. They need to get back to spending time writing episodes and having the kids be kids. The 1 week to air thing leads to all current events.

Like I looked at the season 17 episode list right after and it was so much easier to remember. Of course that's also when they went to 10 episodes per season. Say what you will about Matt & Trey, but I think, relative to other creative teams, they're pretty good about gauging when they're running out of ideas. Waltzing Along posted:It seems all the decisions they make have been for the worse: Making episodes in a week has always been their thing though. That's not some decision they made recently. Also it's funny because when you say they should do "kids being kids" episodes, well, they say that all the time too. But somehow they can't seem to really commit to doing that most of the time. I actually felt like 16 was where they got some inspiration again and episodes began relying less on taking a stance and beating the same joke to death. The prior handful of seasons still had some gems but the bad episodes were often irritatingly bad.

Waltzing Along posted:Wasn't the whole point of Heidi, in the first place, a reaction to Ghostbusters 2016 promotional BS? Tangentially. It was a reaction to Skankhunt42 trolling the girls' mothers. Heidi's mom got trolled so hard - and Heidi was in the picture - that Heidi committed virtual suicide. This angered the girls even more and led to the boys trashing Cartman's electronics. The boys came to regret this when Skankhunt42 kept right on trolling even though Cartman no longer had access to the Internet. 21 Muns posted:Also, Heidi literally tells him how much time she needs to get ready. She is not the one with poor time management skills here. 21 Muns posted:Cartman tells her what time he wants to go somewhere and she tells him she'll be there thirty minutes earlier so she can get ready. No, she tells him to be at her place a half hour earlier because she'll take at least that much longer to get ready if he's bringing costumes. He was counting on her to say that because he knows by now that she'll either remember to get something she forgot about, or she'll agonize over what to wear. She could take as much time as she needs. This way, it'll be easier to convince her to take a shortcut with him when he's actually taking her through a scenic route and ditch her when the witch appears.

Since there's no new episode, which South Park from yesteryear do you think totally holds up? I mean one that isn't dated and is just as funny today as it was then. I'm probably going to watch Goobacks tonight. It's just as funny as it was 13 years ago!

SLICK GOKU BABY posted:Butters Own Episode! Butters Own Episode is one of my favorite. Like top 3 or 5. “Yeah, I wish you were a chick cause I need some goddamn poontang.” “Yeah, I need some poontang too.” The whole end where his parents reveal everything and Butters becomes increasingly horrified. “We’re gonna go to Bennigan’s and everything will be alright” “Really?” “No...” Plus the Gary Condit thing is so much funnier after his exoneration. “It’s Butters!” “That’s me!” I don’t think I’ve ever watched Pip’s episode since it aired though.

The Gary Condit thing is great for nostalgia because it was the biggest story in the news for a while before a certain September Tuesday after which he was largely forgotten about. Just the dude's name reminds me of that summer.

The Pip episode gets a bad rap and is one of my favourites. “And they all lived happily ever after, except for Pockets who died of hepatitis B.”

Pip isn't that bad. But the source material is pretty good so it isn't much of a stretch.

I've been playing the new game and I've decided to give the show a shot. I haven't watched since....poo poo season 11? The first two mega DVD sets were super cheap so I've been binging. Asspen is legit one of the funniest episodes of any TV show ever. The concept is so perfectly done, it never ever stops and the kids reactions are perfect.

What come on now. They basically called Jared a lying piece of poo poo and even through in some pedophile jokes before the world even knew he was a piece of poo poo pedophile. It was funny then, but it's even funnier now to watch.
