Sir Kodiak posted:This is precisely what I like about his design. The character literally made from alien tech visually fits in better with the CG hellscape of the alien invasion. That seems appropriate. Fair enough. With that rationale it makes some sense, but I really feel like they could've simplified his design a little bit, especially in the midsection area. As I said earlier, maybe it'll look better in motion, but the stills I've seen doesn't inspire much confidence. UmOk posted:Are we talking Sega Genesis or like Atari? Nintendo 64

Thought that sort of retreat from making any kind of direct claim about a movie, which risks the embarrassment of being shown to be wrong, to purely focus on subjective impressions of personality, is more of an Internet shitposter sort of thing.

Where did that originate anyway? Was around these forums or was it from a lovely review? All that stuff kind of blended together. I'm not looking forward to the reviews praising the soundtrack. From the music that made it out there, it is not good on any scale.

Megaman's Jockstrap posted:Also I don't like the aesthetics of the new Cyborg. Has nothing to do with the quality of the CGI, he just looks over-done and busy. Totally. It's just that "over-done and busy" look is what makes it come off as dated CGI to me. I wasn't trying to imply that the CGI itself was actually bad, rather, that the design made it look like too obviously CGI (you know - like how CGI used to be, where it was always 110% obvious what was and wasn't computer generated). By contrast, plenty of things in those trailers ARE obviously CGI (because they can't be real) but they don't LOOK obviously CGI. Does that make sense?

I think what you're trying to say is that it's very clear that it's not a practical costume because it's too fiddly and doesn't move naturally (perhaps intentionally, but nonetheless there is an air of unreality about it). Yes?
|
# ? Nov 2, 2017 19:06 |

Yeah, that makes more sense, though The Matrix's Sentinels, which are blobs with tentacles, don't strike me as being that fiddly. For 2000s CGI, I'd associate that overly-busy look more with the Transformers series, which is all gears within gears to the point that the characters are just masses of whirling polygons.
