Do you live in what would otherwise be considered a suburb or bedroom community, with a population in the 10s of thousands? Do you own a pristine pickup truck that has never seen anything heavier than a load of groceries from Costco in the bed? Congratulations, you're rural.

If we are going to earnestly discuss rural genocide we need some definitions. What is rural? Living within a population center of sub-100k? Sub-10k? Sub 1k? Only those who live on family farms? What about people who live in the ex-urbs? Do all rurals get soylent greened, even those who are minoritieed peoples, or are progressively inclined politically? What about the reserves? What about people who don’t own any vehicle, much less a jacked up one tonne. What about civil servants who are providing essential services? It’s this kind of lack of attention to detail that will doom our efforts before they’ve even begun. Bush league.

Yes, as a resident of Toronto, the whole city went to poo poo the minute we let the suburbs in. Maybe there's some way to force them to assimilate, some kind of schooling perhaps, that would engender their children to our way of life.

Now that it's a crisis, there's (1) how to limit new cases of substance dependence, (2) how to better prevent overdoses in the current user population, and (3) how to better treat current cases of substance dependence. It was never going to be easy. At least Horgan is trying to do something about instead of opposing any attempts. EvidenceBasedQuack fucked around with this message at 21:33 on Nov 2, 2017 |

the perception that all religious adherents believe in an interventionist sky wizard who personally judges them is laughable. most people counted amongst members of a religion are just in it for the community or cultural reasons. the percentage of people who identify as religious and actually pray is under 25% and it's only that high because of american evangelicals religion is pretty archaic and silly, but it's basically just elk's lodge at this point
