I canvassed last weekend in HD 67 (around Chantilly) for Delaney and Northam and it went better than 2016 for me, but I saw that Gillespie had hit the neighborhood hard. We were coming to some of the doors of voters who were "likely" to vote for Democratic candidates and they had already been hit with tons of Gillespie materials. Somebody I was canvassing with mentioned to the Dems organizer that an undecided voter she was speaking with had already been contacted by the Gillespie campaign four times. The organizer, summoning a bit Robby Mook overconfidence, just claimed it was because the GOP campaign was wasting its money and using a poor voter targeting database. I'll sleep easier on the 8th when this race is over.

You and me and other people whose voices don't matter can say that, but Democratic public officials have to be very careful about saying it.
