He claims that he was trying to make a point about how lovely security was at his outpost, saw an opportunity to gain intel on the way to base, and got captured for it
He also admits that its a stupid rear end idea and he shouldn't have done it
lmao what a moron.
I mean, whatever. Getting dishonorably discharged is basically the end of any chance he ever had to get a decent job, his life is pretty much over. Honestly gently caress Freep, spiteful monsters.

I don't think there was a lot of consistency on exactly why he walked off. Some say he was a dick who was tired of the military life and deserted, others say the outpost was being run terribly and he walked away in the middle of the night trying to get to another outpost to report on how lovely they were.
Either way, none of it even comes close to "treason" unless you're following WW1 standards where desertion is automatic capital punishment.

Military courts are very sensitive to ensure that there is no pressure from the chain of command. During the campaign, Trump called, as I recall, for the death penalty. OK, he’s a candidate, not president. Within the past few days, with regard to Bergdahl’s sentencing, he said something like, “well, you know how I feel”, referring to his campaign statement. So now, we’ve got the Commander-in-Chief weighing in on the sentencing. That’s the C-in-C possibly influencing the court’s sentencing.
While I suspect that a stiffer sentence could have been imposed while maintain independence from influence from the chain of command, Trump, as president, should have simply kept his mouth shut or should have said something to the effect that he had complete confidence in the court to impose a suitable sentence, given its knowledge of the particulars of the case.
As private citizens, we have considerable leeway in our statements. Like it or not, a president must be considerably more circumspect.
I hate to say it, but you can blame this light sentence on Trump.

There isn't any other possible conclusion. At least this makes them say it.
Cricical Race Theory is nothing better than gussied-up bigotry, and its fundamental tenet is that it's not OK to be white, that only white people have power and hence are completely responsible for any negative aspect of society anywhere. The absurdity of this case is being challenged, and its proponents don't like the mask being torn off.

Congressman Says Jeff Sessions Has Recused Himself on Uranium One Deal posted by freeper markomalley
Normally when I see a bullshit headline, I head over to Google and look for the same article from a reputable source. In this case, the headline is from Breitbart, and nobody at all anywhere near reputable is touching it. The Breitbart article itself, though, seems as credible as this Florida Republican congressman:
the excerpt posted:Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Breitbart News on Wednesday that he and other House Judiciary Committee Republicans had met with Sessions at the Justice Department on September 28 in advance of an upcoming committee hearing with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein later this month.
Gaetz said that when he asked Sessions to appoint a special counsel to investigate the 2010 Uranium One deal and Fusion GPS, the attorney general stood up, said he could not discuss the matter because he had recused himself, and walked out of the room, leaving them with a group of Rosenstein staffers “who showed no interest.”
“He said that anything that had to do with 2016 election, or Russia, or the candidates in the 2016 election, fell under the scope of his recusal, and he left the room,” Gaetz said.
You can safely assume that every post I'm not copying over is calling on him to resign, usually in the form of "Well then he needs to recuse himself from his job. By resigning. Yeah, look at me, look at how clever I am to post the same thing everyone else does multiple times per page."
This is exactly how they'll turn on Trump, when the time comes. At first he's their guy, but then the swamp gets'em...
quote:To: markomalley
It seems that Sessions is either not very courageous or perhaps not very intelligent. He seems content to let the left use the special prosecutor as a political assassin. I am beginning to believe that Sessions is a “shadow government” plant whose primary mission is to protect his swamp masters.

Treason.
Right.
Okay so I'm kind of wondering what they think this deal was. Here's Snopes on the matter. This is legitimately a big fat nothing. For example, the State Department is only one of nine US agencies that had to approve the deal because it could have impacted national security. Every agency approved. Oh and also no uranium has moved out of the country. Why? Because it was a loving stock deal, and the fuss is entirely over Russia now owning a 51% majority stake in the company, which mines uranium and keeps stockpiles. The right wing media bubble decided that this is a big deal because Uranium One execs donated to the Clinton Foundation.
Meanwhile, failure to understand reality leads to things like this:
quote:To: eartick
“I am thinking now that Jeff Sessions is complicit in the dealings with Russia and the Uranium deal and may very well have benefited from some dealings here.”
There is nothing else we can conclude from this. Sessions seems to be saying that he was involved. I think he needs to issue a public statement explaining his involvement.
This is a major failure of law enforcement. The Justice Department refuses to engage in an investigation. It’s as if the New England Patriots forfeited the Superbowl by simply refusing to play.

Didn't even have to be that major. Just refusing to go be a bullet sponge in another pointless charge was enough. One French General had a number of men arrested for refusing to go over the top and given the death penalty. Then he rescinded it to order that they have their hands bound behind them and be sent into no-man's-land alone and unarmed to be shot by the other side. They didn't refuse to fight, they still fended off German attacks, they just refused to take part in another suicidal charge that had killed so many before them for literally nothing

One of my favorite meals is 8 ounces (half a pound!) of grass fed beef grilled and put on a brioche roll with a thick slice of swiss cheese, mushrooms and grilled hot peppers on top. The hamburger is definitely underrated because it is associated with McDonalds and fast food. But a good burger cooked at home is fine eating.
Actually over in Japan, kobe burgers are considered fine cuisine. It's dumb, ignorant liberals who think they are only about rice and raw fish. So Trump having a burger with Abe was Japanese cuisine after all.

That’s what people used to eat until they discovered that corn-fed beef is immensely better.

Showed exactly the level of sleaze we can expect from Dems in upcoming races. KKKers driving trucks to run over black and Mexican children.
Ben Shapiro made a good point about the Romney loss. Romey message was Obama isn’t so bad of a guy but has bad economic policies. Democrat message was that Romney puts his dog in a cage on top of his car on a cross country trip, hates poor people, has binders of women, fired a worker with cancer murdering him and his family and is an evil amoral reedy bastard.
Gillespie wasn’t willing to fight the fight at the level we now have to fight it. Trump always kicked them in the nuts when they punched him in the face.
Exactly why we need to use the sex thing in Hollywood to take those bastards down. Clean up the CLinton criminal machine. Weaponize the IRS and the FBI and jail our enemies while we can.

Not as dire as VA, but the trend is not our friend.
If Trump can deliver on promises by 2020, it’s a state that’s in play. It has an independent streak to it and results could kick it back to the light . However, yeah, it has been deeply Californicated.
Same thing applies to Nevada ... Trump delivers on promises, Nevada swings to the R column.
One final note, Trump delivers, PA, WI, and MI stay in the R column.
Now do you see why the Republican party hates Trump? Trump expects results ... he gets results, they maintain/grow power :-). Many of the Rs want to spend like Democrats, but can’t since their voters expect much more from them. Therefore, they want to make sure Trump doesn’t deliver on anything. It is SO FRIGGING FRUSTRATING.

Gillespie should be embarrassed for wasting a GOP nomination (one that he secured by trashing his primary rivals) on such a pathetic losing effort. And apparently dragging the entire state party down with him. There’s really not much more to say than that. Hopefully, he will be told rather rudely to go away and stay away if he tries to make yet ANOTHER GOP electoral run.

Again a very likpatous story

At the time of this post, with 72% of districts reporting and Northam ahead 52.3% to 46.6%, the NYT, AP, and NBC have called the election for Northam. Naturally, I couldn't help but think of Freep. How long before I see a post saying all the votes aren't in yet and this is FAKE NEWS? How many will claim voter fraud? Let's find out!
Democrat Northam wins Virginia governor's race
Four posts for the first claim of voter fraud.

"Actually Gillespie isn't really a Republican anyway."
quote:Not surprising since he ran against Never Trumper Gillespie, who’s already lost a statewide race in Virginia. Karl Rove’s corrupt friend now can stay home and hopefully in 4 years Republicans can run a real and loyal candidate.

quote:Yep. But the GOPe Uniparty types will not do that. They use this as an excuse to back amnesty and high taxes to appeal to the liberals. Same old story, same old song and dance.
I’m HAPPY the old dinosaur ROVE party member did not win. Screw these guys let them all go away. We always are told by Freepers to “just vote R even though they’re not perfect, they’re still not dems” and look where this got us. Socialized medicine these RINOS refuse to repeal and amnesty for years. Which, btw is why VA will never be red again, at least for a long time.

Fifteen posts for the first fake news claim, though not relating to the results exactly.
quote:“Northam’s victory was in large part due to a surge in anti-Trump energy since the president took office.”
That is stated as established fact when there is no basis for it at all
Fake news.

It would be nice if this was true, but Virginia loves to swing back and forth.

A Republican will never win VA again in our lifetime.
But WI and MI make up for it because they’re bleeding Democrat voters.

There's also a live election report thread which is basically a bunch of people saying "That's it I'm going to leave this state/I was going to move to this state but now I won't" and also a lot of talk about how it's actually cool and good Gillespie lost because he's a GOPe RINO that true conservatives hate. No threads about Danica Roem, the first transgender person to be elected to the VA state legislature, beating the Republican incumbent who'd held the office for 25 years.

How much fraud did they commit to get this result since no one, and I mean no one here in north east Florida approves of this cross dressing, and VA cannot be that twisted like MA, ,r CA to have really elected this freak lawfully.

The “logic” these people use escapes me. But then, it is God who sends the Strong Delusion of the Last Days.
Whoever voted for this freak certainly has some delusion of some sort.

To keep winning, we need the lefty nutters to keep pushing the lefty accelerator through the floorboards.
Strangely, this election of a tranny could be a good thing, as it will encourage them to simply continue being Who They Are:
Screaming at the sky with blue hair, ritually cutting themselves, spitting at cops, laying down in traffic, etc.
A bad battle lost for Virginia but maybe it will help the greater war.

And this is just a taste of what to expect next November. The people like us know how important it is that democrats don't regain control so we'll hold our nose and vote anyway, but we are the minority. The VAST majority of Independent and Republican leaning voters who aren't very political are mad as hell that the party essentially lied to them for six years about repealing Obamacare, and are more than willing to “punish” the party by handing the Congress (and all other seats up and down the ballot) to the democrats.

I still don't understand the hatred of blue hair.
Like for the old people that just hate hair dye I guess I understand, but there are young people complaining about this.
Why??????? It's a color. If you're dying your hair it can be pretty much any color. Why the gently caress is this a problem?
