i know he's like 90 but there goes some goodwill towards vin https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2017/11/05/vin-scully-i-never-watch-another-nfl-game/833765001/ quote:“I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed,” Scully said, according to multiple videos of the moment posted on social media. “I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. And it’s not that I’m some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year. Didn’t go anywhere. Didn’t do anything. But I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

The only thing surprising about that is maybe you would think Vin wouldn't come right out and say it

Vin is a super rich old white guy and has always had typically gross super rich old white guy political opinions when people have bothered to ask him about it. Thankfully that isnt very often.

Also this issue has been incredibly muddled, it's very hard for someone who hasn't been following this to resist the noise of "this is all about the troops, and the NFL players . . . they hate them, and America!!!"

It's OK to think black people should shut up if you're old If only someone in Scully's organization had spoken about this before, maybe if there was a prominent example he'd have learned something

Bomani is back this week on HQ and yes, it's as good as you'd expect. Partially because the Cavs are lovely to start the year and as such Gonzalo Le Batard gets to be very smug about the eSnake Brothers, LeBron and Dwayne.

I watched PTI for the first time in like, 5 years last night. It's still good? And easy to see why it spawned so many imitators. PTI's biggest asset is that their takes are interesting but not like "hot takes" a lot of the time. And obviously the natural chemistry. The way that Mike is always calling into Tony's podcast and talking about how he calls him on the weekend makes it clear that they're actually friends which is kinda sweet, even if they're both giant idiot gas bags. algebra testes fucked around with this message at 01:24 on Nov 9, 2017 |
