Hey guys, I ended up playing Star Citizen over the weekend and drat... it was actually pretty fun.

Spawned in on the planet, already had a couple of teammates bring a shuttle down to me. Seamless transition from atmo to orbit. Took a bit of rough damage when an improperly secured thruster broke off. Able to get out into space through and preform repairs, even made a couple of improvements on the fly.

Docked with a mining station, that was neat. Plenty of mineral rich hunks of rock up there to prospect.

We all took a break to watch a capital ship jump in. Supplemented the crew as we performed a serious of jumps to the next closest planet. While in transit, performed some minor repair work on the interior; apparently a recon ship had got loose in the hanger.

All in all, pretty impressed.

...Oh wait, sorry. That was Space Engineers. Space Engineers had all that. Star Citizen was the one where I tried to dock and was catapulted to some nightmare stimperical realm.

Everyone KNOWS that your server tech guy should be absolutely working the weekend! And then you've got the art team. WHO THE gently caress IS GOING TO CREATE THAT ART if they arent working weekends?!

loving god drat idiot buttmuncher goons don't know poo poo about jack and this is painfully obvious.

You can't just tell your team to go home, that's following the law! And of course if the person just agrees to staying late then you don't have to pay them so the finances are fine DONT ASK ABOUT THE FINANCES AGAIN OK!

Furthermore its a little too obvious that Derek "Idiotpuncher42" Smart is too small-brained to understand that CIG can't have issues with payment and thats why they have an increased NUMBER OF CONTRACTORS every year rather than normal employees OH WAIT PEOPLE SIGN CONTRACTS FOR WORK so technically everyone is a contractor.

just remember, some people have been in crunch mode for almost two full years now

the other ones, like some peeps that I know, straight up walked out after 3 to 6 months of that poo poo, mostly because there was no end in sight, no goal to reach to end the crunch and no rewards or incentives for your sacrifice

now you've got 26 year olds leading entire teams with no prior game or managerial experience, working constantly because they have no idea its a bad thing. they take their cues straight from roberts on how to manage your employees: "do what I say, exactly how I say, or quit"

the tales that you're going to hear next year are going to loving astound some people. Someone should muzzle Ben so he eats less. People like to go on about how freedom is the right to make your own choices, but clearly some people don't deserve to be free, as they make the clearly wrong choice according to anyone who understands the subject.

This ideology could be applied in many ways. Chris Roberts should not be allowed to make video games. MoMA should not be allowed to post. I should not be allowed to dictate who may do or not do what, etc.

Ban moma, is what I'm saying.

I don't really want to respond to this rear end-clown on twitter, but yeah, it does apply. These are the things that a competent publisher will look at and go, "Nope, what you are proposing will be impossible and will lead to financial ruin for anyone attempting it." And it would have ended right then and there. Which it should have according to people in the know. They've said that Chris shopped his "vision" around to multiple publishers and they all shot him down before he turned to Kickstarter. And now here we are watching the trainwreck slowly unfold.

The gently caress, "cannot give away their games because it's indie" . my brain hurts now, is he implying 3000ad cannot give away free copies of their games or that they cannot find a publisher, because they are exact the same as CIG in that regard.
