Achievements don't even add to your steam level, so there isn't even that primal instinct to make numbers go higher going for them  . Like I like achievements when they make me do weird poo poo (except EU4, gently caress you Sunset invasion I wasted far too many weekends trying to get you  ) or reward me for doing something hard but whether or not a game has achievements isnt going to be the be all end all for me, theyre at best a nice, tertiary feature to work for. Key word, work for, if it is for just doing poo poo like beating the tutorial then I'm not going to care.

Maybe it's because I'm on the spectrum, but I cannot get past the last panel of this comic. Like, it's kind of predictable, the joke, but it's funny as it is...yet... what's with the last panel? It suggests that the other guys playing D&D with him beat the poo poo out of him? Like, enough to give him an eye so swollen that it's black and shut. That's not funny...that's just weird. A sudden, random act of violence. I don't get it. It's like, a punchline by itself isn't funny unless also someone gets beat up.

They're exaggerating for effect and readability, dude. It's not high art, but slapstick has been used as a cheap laugh for centuries. The getting beat up is the literal punchline. Go to any game with those and you'll see that something like 10-20% of players don't have the "complete tutorial/press start" achievements. There may be glitches keeping it from popping, but more often than not you'll find players start the game up and never even play it.
