Yeah nintendo is just full of gimmicks, not like a REAL game company like microsoft and the kinect.

Don’t get me wrong, Nintendo makes fun video games, it’s just that they don’t make a lot of them, they have bad graphics and third parties don’t Nintendo’s consoles much. So the Nintendo universe is kind of a game desert with only a few oasis’s. I still wish I had a Switch though.

had to delete a whole paragraph bc i was about to get u wrong. thanks for the heads up. anyway, my unpopular video game opinion is, i want a third person shooter where the main character is morbidly obese, shoots from the hip and has combat powers like 'belly bulge' and 'sit'. his knee caps can explode with the effects of a flashbang

I think bethesda rgps get way too much praise for how janky they are and how bland/awful the gameplay is.

That's not unpopular, they basically farm out the polish and later stages of development to modders.

The jankiness is half of what makes Bethesda RPGs fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93W6mB0ZqCM limp_cheese posted:Destiny 2 is boring. It's basically everything I find wrong with big budget games. The graphics looked great but the guns felt like Fisher Price toys and none of the backstory was explained. The fact it's just grinding so you can do more grinding really turned me off. Same except I got it for free so whatever. Destiny 2 pvp is the least fun I've ever had playing a multiplayer FPS.

Doki Doki Literature Club is extremely boring. I don't care if it's a brilliant subversion of the genre or whatever, if I still have to click through the stupid thing it's subverting for 3+ hours. Maybe I just don't have the exact type of brain damage necessary to enjoy VNs.

I don't understand the modern love for Mario and other Nintendo franchises. To me it's the equivalent of continuing to play Tetris. Yeah it's classic but at some point you'd think people would get bored of the same thing.

L4D2 was the only time I can recall, if you squint real hard, that I didn't buy a game on principle. It pissed me off that Valve released a sequel with a small amount of QoL changes and some new maps instead of adding content to the original game literally one year after they released L4D, a full price game that was practically devoid of content. They promised they were going to add new maps and things, then just went radio silence and released a new game instead. Greedy af. Any other dev would have drip fed that content into the original game, or at worst released it as a cheaper xpac. They just released the same game again one year later with all the content they said they'd add to the original and charged full price.

They added two new campaigns, with one shared map between them (played very differently), and codified a fan-made campaign. Then they added all the L4d1 campaigns. Yeah it's not Tf2 levels of content but it's not nothing. L4D2 is way better than L4d1 in nearly every way. L4d1 has heavy physics but nothing else even remotely "realistic" and the maps are visually dull. You can also cheese massive chunks of the campaigns with Shiva-stacking which is why Valve added The Spitter. All of the new items are worth a drat too. Adrenaline, defibrillators, Bile, the magnum, and varieties of shotgun, automatic gun, and sniper rifle add a real layer of playstyle customization. Yes. It was unambiguously lovely for Valve to release L4D2 so soon after the first. A lot of customers got burnt. I respect that and agree it wasn't right. That said the game stands on its own and is better than the original, and going by this thread that's the real unpopular opinion.

also, COD WW2 has the best modern map design since black ops 1 or MW2, I can finally enjoy the freedom of being able to move around a map and not be stuck in a 2meter by 2 foot corridor that was made so console players don't have to aim left or right or up or down

The biggest mystery to me is why they turned tf2 into the cosmetic item farming thing instead of l4d2. It just seems much more casual and suited for it than tf2.

Yeah it's not Tf2 levels of content but it's not nothing. That is the correct opinion to have. L4D2 is absolutely better than L4D1, and with the add-ons putting BOTH games into L4D2, there is zero reason to play L4D1. What people don't realize is Versus, which was always a ton of fun in L4D and with a surprising amount of strategy to it for such a popcorn game, was SO much loving worse in L4D1. Without Chargers and Spitters the only thing you needed to do was voltron in a corner whackin' away with your rifle melee. You are 100% right on fall fronts. Also the reason L4D2 came out soon fast after L4D1 wasn't scummy business practices, it was because Valve bought the game from Turtle Rock, and didn't want to spend a ton of time making updates for a game they didn't develop from the ground up themselves. Frankly there was enough new content for the thing I can't be pissed at Valve about it, it wasn't like an expansion, it was absolutely a full and complete sequel with MAJOR gameplay improvements. assuming that you'll never lose access to a game you bought and there will be discounts I am completely on board with getting rid of physical media but I guess consoles are a different thing since they're a closed system and I use a PC where if you really want to play a game and the company that made it won't let you you can always grab a torrent and no-cd
