Another actual little thing from New Order: If you flush all the toilets in the hideout BJ says to himself "this is becoming a compulsion". Also Set is a wonderful character but if he's a Polish Jew why does he speak English with an old timey Brooklyn accent?

The random outfit stuff in Mario is super cool but makes me wish I'd never bought the clown clothes for completion. It really helps deal with tougher challenges, though, because you are "rewarded" with a new outfit everytime you die.

In Thimbleweed Park you can use a coupon to rent a copy of Blazing Saddles on Betamax and a character remarks that he hates the ending of the movie. Which winds up being an amazing joke as well as clever foreshadowing since the entire final act winds up being the characters all realizing that they're in an adventure game when a character proves it to them by pointing out all the genre conventions they've been going through without question. And the final puzzles are all cool meta poo poo like breaking into a beta version of the game or getting info from the original Kickstarter video. Also one of the characters is a foul-mouthed clown whose profanity is always censored with beeps, which should have been annoying but actually wound up being a pretty great running jokes since it's only censored for him and everyone else actually says the word "beep" when they quote him, like referring to his pet as Little Beeper.

I've played Horizon Zero Dawn for probably over 150 hours of my life and I just now realized that there's a literal horizontal line running through the logo. Also in the new DLC area if you chase after squirrels long enough they'll run up trees to get away. GOTY.

That reminded me of a semi-neat thing in HZD which might also be considered an aggravating thing to obsessive completionists: There's four main collectibles in the game that count towards platting the game (which is actually much easier than for most games) - Metal Flowers, Viewpoints, Figures, and Mugs. You can buy maps to find them all and there's like thirty in total so you just kind of pick them up as you explore the game world. But there's also text and audio logs throughout the game. Some of them are in bunches in the obvious plot areas as they give you some direct story and history of the place you're exploring. But there's also just a huge amount of them scattered throughout the world, with no real way to know that they're around unless you go into Focus-mode around stuff that looks like it's old technology. And there's no maps to any of it, and it doesn't count to any completion percentage, but they're all logged in your menu. So if you wanna go history-searching... happy hunting, ain't no help the game is gonna give you! Or I guess by this point you could search online. But when the game released, basically nobody had all the text logs upon beating the game.

Once conditions were safe enough, they let out the cloned prey animals for the early humans to hunt and eat. The non-prey animals like wolves and whatever are saved for when humans get control of the system, which hasn't happened.

Prototype 2 was in the last Humble Bundle, and I'm forever enamoured with the protagonist Heller getting frustrated with computers and deciding to just stab someone and eat their memories instead, to the continual horror of the supporting cast. Also, there was a typing game in there called Epistory that I went in decidedly unexcited about, only to discover it's a jawdroppingly beautiful mix of Typing of the Dead and 2D Zelda games.

In XCOM 2 you can build SPARKs, giant mechs that support your troops (and replace MECs, giant cyborgs you make out of your troops). Also in XCOM 2 are Gremlins, little hovering support drones that you build to help build up your base and that your Specialists use in the field. It took me way, way too long to realize that the default cosmetic design for the SPARK has a Gremlin with the hoverpads removed for a head.

Considering the timeline of events, wouldn't that be "Gremlins are SPARK heads with hover pads attached"?

I've never beaten zone 1 of crypt of the necrodancer. It's a great game, just really difficult for me for some reason. ... And I literally lived only to play rhythm games for about a decade. I breathed, ate, chewed, and poo poo nothing but Amplitude, Rez, Frequency, EBA, DDR (had a custom hard pad with bar), and even imported Ouendan. I just can't jive CotND.
