The big issue is that while a 6 point lead is not insurmountable in a hypothetical generic race, it might be in a deeply conservative state for the minority party if Moore has a high enough floor of support. The DNC should be dumping resources into Alabama as of tomorrow. They won't, but if there was ever a time to, now is that time.

Instead the snake oil salesmen tell them the path of least resistance is clinging to the past and they lap it up.

Like, seriously, picture how hosed up you have to be to defend a viewpoint that says it's okay to be ten years out of college and ask a loving high school student on a date. Try to understand that brain and feel relieved when you encounter an absolute labyrinth of confusion. This motherfucker told her mom he would babysit her. He was purporting to protect her from some of the emotional difficulties of her parents going through a divorce. He wasn't just some thirsty rear end in a top hat with no respect for women, he was a predator who actively pursued the vulnerable, and the right is falling all over itself to defend him.
