Honestly I think Biden would be a terrible move right now. He's just more of the same and if the USA doesn't noticeably improve under his term, then I think the right will have an even larger resurgence than 2016

Don't anyone forget that just a couple weeks ago, he was talking fondly of the days where he could still go out for a beer with segregationists after the work day was done. The issue that I see is that Democrats are too busy trying to trip over their own dicks and play more leftist than thou, while Republicans are willing to set aside everything about their own beliefs just because a person has (R) next to their name. Ideology is great except when the other party has all the levers of power and is ruining the country. If Biden (or whomever) has the best odds of winning, then so be it. Run Biden. Or Bernie, or whatever. Primary out your bad dems when you're back in power.

Also, Dems shouldn't be focused on 2020 right now. They should be focused on sweeping more state and local races next year, defending their Senate seats, and fielding suitable candidates to take over vacant or weak Republican seats in the house. This may mean (ghasp) fielding a range of candidates with different ideological leanings, from centrists to progressives.
