No, you can drive it, but within a radius of one mile of your house, if it's out of the garage, it's uninsured for theft.

I've not had this from anyone else, and I have multiple insurance policies, including classic ones.

Oh yeah, I remember a few of mine:

Add less experienced driver to policy: premium goes down.

Add safety feature that reduces chance of accident: premium goes up

Engine swap with double the bhp, but the same cc: premium stays the same.

And my favourite fully comprehensive < third party, fire and theft only.

There were also a few lambos and a dealership fresh ferrari 488 out there. Its definitely a good time, but I'd consider bringing him some ear plugs since some of the straight piped stuff is just brutally loud and definitely bring a cooler with drinks and food. They have concessions on site, but its standard expensive event food.

That is dumb and I wonder how many people don't realise what they signed.

My insurance this year stayed with the same company, their renewal offer was about £60 cheaper than any competitor and when I phoned up to talk it down a bit I got another £60 off. They're still scumbag cocks.

My main insurance policy went up by £100 this year :(

The agreed/declared value bit of many classic policies is also worth poo poo, and be careful what you are signing up for regarding any rights you have to get your vehicle back after a claim.

Back when I was involved with the landrover club a guy locally got hit by a drunk driver and it hosed his truck up (if you drive head on into a forward control landrover the car will go underneath the chassis and rip your springs and axles off...)
His 'classic' insurance company re-valued his vehicle much lower than it should have been and then didn't want to let him have/buy the salvage vehicle back to fix it.

I'm 30, and have only been in two relationships. One for around 8-9 years (small break in the middle, Army), and one since just about last year, in three days. I mean, I knew the person for a few years before that.

I'm not certain, but I think I just got dumped today. It's weird. When this lease is over in February, she is going to move back in with her ex-husband to raise her kids. Separate rooms (like they have been for years, it was a loveless marriage I'm told). It will save 2+ hours of commuting a day that was being done for the kids' school, and logistically make a lot of sense.

However, :smithicide:

On the plus side, I got an 85% on my Biology 156 final today (online course, I did the accelerated 8 weeks versus 16) meaning I get an 88% in the class :unsmith:.

Oh, she offered to let me move in to the house with her ex-husband, and we would share the room together. We still really enjoy each other's company, and the sex (I guess "was") amazing and kinky and fun. However, she offered that as halfheartedly as she is capable of doing, which is still with quite a bit more enthusiasm than I can ever muster, and I declined. I've been a third wheel my entire life, and we both agree that it would be way too weird. Very considerate to do, though.

We texted a few times before she had to go to sleep (works nights) while I was out and about after the conversation, and basically said as much as you did, TL. A very good experience and good way to heal for both of us, and it worked out financially for at least the year.

Until February, unless it's for potential (but not expected) FWB stuff that may fall into place, I'm in my once-office-now-bedroom. I have this Ikea pullout bed with some okay mattresses on it, and it's nearly a queen size when fully open (75x78). I'm still going to interact with the kids, and if any and all relationship stuff falls away I believe we'll still be good friends. Today is still all up in the air, but we both made it clear that the moment one of us is cutting something off, to tell the other person (and that goes both ways). So, if anything sparks between her and her ex, or myself and another person, or adult things are off the table, we'll tell the other person immediately. Which is why, today, she told me that she doesn't think this will work out forever and that it's an indefinite break romantically, but possibly not sexually. Still a few day to few week stop for both of us to figure out if we want the physical part, which we both agreed on. I'm entirely emotionally devastated, and I think she is, too. We also agreed that, if the friendship stuff feels too weird, that it'll be a clean break. We were friends for a few years beforehand, so  we'll see.

Fiance told me today that if we want, we can move to a larger apartment in the next phase of the community when it's ready. It's only about 40 sq feet bigger but we'd move to an interior unit which would have a few benefits. A relocated mechanical room which would increase our closet space. A larger den area which would let me move my nerd space into a room with a door so nobody has to look at it but me. And the new design would offset the garage further into the building and with a shared wall it would mean I could potentially insulate the door and bring the temp up quite a bit in the winter. This would let me move the exercise gear out there and free up a ton of space in the actual apartment. New place is also all laminate except for bedrooms so cleaning will be a fair bit easier. And the new place will only be about $50 more per month. I think we'll definitely jump on this when it becomes available.

New floorplan. I am told the entire left garage wall is insulated. So with a garage door insulation kit I can probably make it fairly nice in winter.

Sorry to hear about your love lost, MGS. But think about it this way...aren't you the one who had to leave in a fly-by-night scenario to get out of the situation you had with your hoarder ex? That sounded a lot more painful and difficult than this breakup. At least with your "current" ex, it's a cleaner and less-complicated break, with both of you parting on good terms. As far as breakups go, this is a pretty ideal situation. Time heals all wounds. You'll pull through. Just throw yourself into something full-tilt for a while, as long as it's not a bottle.

oh my god so we had ordered new siding for the house, the colour looked (to me, a colourblind person) like a greyish blue more than a navy blue, but the sample swatch was small and the missus loved it so we ordered it. it was delivered this morning for install on monday and it is exactly the colour blue i thought it would be and the missus is NOT happy because "it's an ugly 90s blue colour blah blah blah"

fine, i call the siding guy and tell him the siding is not the colour my wife anticipated it being, can we return it i dont care about the time delay for obvious reasons. the guy stammers that it should match the swatch but he'll call the manufacturer and see about returns on their custom colored siding and call me back, though he thinks there may be a restocking fee. i'm like cool whatever as long as my house doesnt look like it's from the 90s i dont care.

communicate this to the missus, she has a fit because we shouldnt have to pay a restocking fee for someone else's mistake. i point out that it is exactly the colour i thought it was going to be and then i think i was murdered over the phone, still not sure

why is life so annoying

To my eyes, which passed a colour blindness test done by my employer (a printing company where colour accuracy is kinda important), that siding colour doesn't look like it matches any of the sample swatches, assuming both pictures were taken in similar lighting. At best it's a blend between the Blue Bayou and Nantucket Pewter. Or the Olde Town Wedgewood colour, which is drat close.

When you said 90s blue, I was picturing that awful light baby blue that people started putting on houses in the late 80s and ran through the 90s.
