Ouch, early reviews for Justice League (you know, the shill infinitely positive reviewers who give an A+ to everything) are all saying things like "it has it's problems but drat was it ever fun!" This franchise is so dead. This person works for Collider and this is the best they could do: https://twitter.com/PNemiroff/status/929030976386228224

The consensus seems to be its characters and banter is good, but that's about it. No story, bad villain, bad effects. I'll pass in the theaters and catch it on home video.

Nah it's fine, it just felt a bit negative, but if at least one person likes it keep it up. I hope Justice League is good, obviously, but this all sounds very bad.

The early impressions of Batman v Superman were also good. There was actually a lot to like in that movie, and I think the early reviewers preferred to dwell on the positives.

I get the appeal, but I'd rather have something different from the DCEU than more of the same stuff Marvel has been pumping out.

When the DC Cinematic Universe was still young, a WB exec took it aside and gave it a harsh dose of reality: "You're going to have to be twice as good to get half the praise."

The Marvel and DC comic books are so similar in tone because the companies share their writers and artists, so it makes sense that their movies would look the same.

Knowing WB has essentially folded to the pressure and decided to follow Marvel is very dissappointing. I was just pointing out how they were making the review sound much worse than it is.

Dark_Tzitzimine posted:That sounds exactly like an Avengers movie and those keep on trucking. So I don't see why all the gloom and doomsaying. My perspective: I don't care about the financial success at all. I care about getting an interesting movie. Avengers was fine, and I liked it, but I've literally never had the desire to watch it ever again. I probably won't watch the next Avengers in theaters. They are potato chips in the sense that they're prefectly fine when they're in front of me but I would never think to seek them out. The only reason I cared about Man of Steel and Batman v Superman's box office take was because if they failed I wouldn't get any more weird Zack Snyder DCCU movies. That's how I feel about the whole financial side of these movies. It's why I didn't care at all that Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049 under-performed, too. I loved those movies.

Man, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they started taking things out of the public domain. HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:Hilarious that a Grant Morrison knockoff is getting an adaptation before basically any Grant Morrison comic. Makes sense, only the surface weirdness on a fairly standard story. Gerard Way's story cracks me up, like, he started out wanting to write comics, 9/11 happened and he decided "Life is too short" so he put on skinny jeans and wrote songs about vampires instead.
