There are hundreds of truly important, pressing reasons why capitalism needs to be dismantled but ultimately something like "you deserve healthcare" is what's going to get people in the door. I think if you're out there proselytizing socialism you need to show them the path and trust that they'll find the same way you did.

winning over conservatives is less of a good use of time than winning over the majority of people who are just not politically engaged at all, or liberals. not media liberals, they are institutionally wedded to the status quo, but regular people who identify as liberal or progressive i'd like to point out that before the last presidential election and primaries, a lot of people posting in this very gay forum were center left at best before getting radicalized when trump ripped down the facade of late capitalism

The presumption that a majority of liberals or conservatives have political views beyond a surface level analysis is flawed, the majority of people have some political opinions and views on what they think society should be like, but very few actually follow any type of comprehensive ideology, that's why liberal and conservative basically mean something completely different in American culture than anywhere else in the world.

So, no, I do not support pedophiles, but if I have to pick between a pedophile and a socialist, then yeah, I would pick the pedophile. They are less disgusting than a democrat. I joined the DSA today. I have been wanting to for some months, but was worried about the national leadership loving things up and the DSA collapsing. Given the recent election results, it's clear that the DSA is able to get work done even with bad national leadership, which makes me really hopeful for what can be done with better leadership.
