God drat the Pens are bad this year. The way they're playing would be enough for a major trade or a coach firing normally except that they're not gonna do either because of the past two Cup wins. They've scored less goals than the Devils in 3 more games played lol. And Crosby and Letang are a combined minus 30. Ah well. They can be bad if they want. I'm okay with it.

Caps looked good tonight. Bruins at least managed to lose in OT. They feel like a team that might limp into the playoffs thanks to all their loser points. Pastrnak has been good this year. He's gonna score 40+ I think.

Montoya out. Habs recalled Fucale from Laval. Weber still hurt. Habs D still a dumpster fire. Habs are gonna get like a bazillion goals scored on them. PK, Marky come back.

I liked a couple weeks ago Jackets where they found a way to win better than this week's Jackets. E- Oh drat, 1st to 7th in the Metro are separated by 2 points. CBJSprague24 fucked around with this message at 15:50 on Nov 11, 2017 |

I liked beginning of the season Leafs when they were giving up 3 goals a game but scoring 4-5, it was a more entertaining sort of shambles.

Despite being rear end they are still dead smack in the middle of the Metro with NJ leading the pack with 20 everyone else have 19 or 18 and then Carolina with 15. With that said the Pens have played more games then all the teams around them, but the Metro is shaping up to be a blood bath once again. I'm on the fence if Letang should be traded. I'm not sure if he's capable of the play ~2 years ago he showed or whether the issues are just a matter of the whole team looking tired nearly every night . After the back to back though yeah...if you can coast through the year enough to make the playoffs then whatever. Until the Pens play a bunch more games at home though I think I'm going to try and reserve judgement.

Yeah the bright spot is their home record remains good and I think something like 10 of their next 14 are at home. That stretch will tell the tale. If they're start sucking at home too then it's time to say they're in bad shape this year. Also they've had horrible puck luck. Have like a 93% PDO I think.

My hot take is all indicators point to there being two problems with the Pens: 1. bad luck and 2. they just don't really give a poo poo (which exacerbates and helps create bad luck). It's easy to forget they've played more games in the past two years than any hockey team ever. They won two Cups and feel good about it, playing sharply in your own end is hard, they're just not really feeling like doing the hard work right now. Still probably gonna sneak into the playoffs and bounce the top seeded Caps in the first round though e: I would actually be OK with trading Letang if they got a good return for him. Not because he isn't awesome but because he's not going to get healthier as he gets older. I would not be shopping him around but if someone called and offered something stupid like a better and younger defenseman straight up, sure, I'd take it. But no one's dumb enough to do that right? e2: my bold prediction is that when Letang gets hurt and goes out for a month, against all logic the Penguins will somehow go 10-3 without him Eric the Mauve fucked around with this message at 20:17 on Nov 11, 2017 |

This is kinda where I'm coming from, BUT the list of defenseman would literally be like OeL, Ekblad, and like Tyson Berrie or something. What it takes to make that happen would likely be prohibitively expensive though and as it is stand pat seems to be the right move currently.

Sens sweep their Sweden series with the Avalanche to bring their record to .500 for the first time in a while (8-3-5). Maybe it's just because they were playing Colorado, but they also looked really really good in the last 2 games. Between Karlsson, Stone, Hoffman, Brassard, and Duchene, they're really top-heavy too. Shame about the 2nd pairing and bottom 6, though.
